Great article! My two favorite takeaways:

Moreover, their bigotry risks being given a standard “two sides to every story” analysis. It (unintentionally?) gives credence to old-school misogyny and racism under the guise of the geek culture equivalent of “economic anxiety.” But in a media run on clicks and shares, there is zero incentive not to write up every moronic online action and/or “perfect response” as if it’s a news story.

...and...

With $4.8 billion worldwide after four movies on a combined budget and production spend of around $1.6b, Star Wars as a movie series will be fine.

Liberal SJW nonsense! Star Wars being turned into girls movies is irrevocably damaging society. White men forever! BUILD THE WALL!!!

Oh, sorry. I thought this was the "Star Wars Universe Imploding" thread and figured I'd post what is passing as intelligent debate over there.
Nothing like that is happening over there. There are a few (3 at most) morons throwing out the Mary Sue crap over and over.

Is it time for movies to have health warnings?

Warning. The following movie may not be to your liking, and some viewers may suffer a severe reaction. If you should feel any adverse opinions, stop watching immediately and do something else for a bit. If symptoms persist, consult a real person in real life for further advice.

It's not the movies that should carry the warning

The toxic fanboys really need to just accept that they're not the center of the universe.
I have to confess, I'm not entirely sure what the poll is actually asking. I originally said yes, but then changed to it's a trap.

I think it's a parody of the other thread...might be wrong

Any answer is the correct one. I'm just having a go at the other ridiculous sexist doom and gloom thread, although unlike the other thread, I actually posted a good article.

Scary thought - there does appear to be some serious sexism going on on THIS board - a Star Trek message board, of all things! It's very sad to try to imagine what the general internet is like...

Yeah, it does amaze me that people who call themselves Star Trek fans can have the kind of attitude we've been seeing in the other threads.
I'm guessing they must be the fans who just watch it for the cool ships and space battles, while the actual themes and stuff go right over their heads.

I was playing around on GIPHY and came across this GIF, and all I could think was that it was the fanboys we're talking about right after they saw TFA and TLJ.

There is not always the need to engage art on the same level as everyone else.
