my advice is to watch the stuff you like - don't watch the stuff you don't like. While I like all the TV series and the first ten movies (Final Frontier is a bit on the odd side), I find STXI to be nothing more than a crap fan-film made by the ultimate fanboy (all be it with a $150M budget). It might have great effects and action, but it just didn't "feel" like star trek. just my humble opinion.

Just because a particular trek is not to your liking, does not mean it should be removed from the canon - just ignore it and watch the stuff you prefer,
