Is This The New Enterprise?

And as for the tricorder... yeah, I'm diggin' that too. The phaser looks better still... you'd never know it wasn't a TOS one unless you compare 'em side-by side, but the new one is just a little more sturdy and "real." :)

I see the tricorder and the communicator, but I'm not seeing the phaser anywhere. Could you clarify which picture it's in?

Also: TrekMovie.com confirms that these Enterprise models are NOT based on the new movie design:

As I said a few posts back:
The communicator and tricorder are respectively the radio controller and powerpack for the Enterprise glider. Neither are prop replicas from the upcoming movie.

It's good to see someone else actually reading the articles before coming here to offer their expert opinion on it.
;)

I just wish someone would tell us all if these are the actual Enterprise, communicator, and tricorder from the movie!

In the video, the rep said that they would be coming out with stuff from the movie in April or so. I hope the communicator and tricorder shown are like what's in the movie. The screen with the moire would likely be a view screen. That's in keeping with what JJA said recently about how the technology of today being better than what was depicted in TOS as the 23rd c so I figure the props will look a lot like TOS but with futuristic from now features, like a view on the communicator.

Awww. Okay, I'll be there.

Wait, a striped down aerodynamic version

That thing doesn't look a BIT like the TOS Sombreroprise!!!!!

:p

Also, the saucer seems to have both the triangle hatches and the 4 underside hatches from TOS and TMP respectivley.

And I see the communicator now has a square screen.

It's quite clearly the TOS Enterprise slightly altered for aerodymic reasons to be a radio controlled flying toy.

I wouldn't get too excited about this.

I predict that instead of following your suggestion to not get too excited, loads of posters will now denounce the movie as a failure and Abrams as incompetent based on a couple of blurry shots of a foam-rubber flying Enterprise toy.

Ah Boo! No one has said anything of the sort... ;)

MattJC is never around when you really need him. ;)

Since it's by Mattel, then no, it's not the movie Enterprise. Trek XI toys are being done exclusively by Playmates.

While the ones shown at Comic-Con are not based on the Trek XI Enterprise, you are incorrect in saying that Matell can't make Trek XI toys. Tyco's product manager himself said that they are going to make one based on the ship in the new movie, though that one isn't coming out until just before the movie comes out.

Sorry, I wasn't clear... I was saying that these images (tricorder and communicator) look what I've seen elsewhere of the "TOS-era revised props."

The Tricorder was always the thing I thought was most "dated" out of all of it, and the changes to that are the most severe... the communicator really does look like what you see there, though (less the logo!), if my information is correct. I believe it, but I'm unfortunately not in a situation to share... so you can disregard this as hearsay if you like. Just know that I believe I've seen the real props... whether you think I'm right or not. ;)

"You were holding it upside down! You know, with all that makeup on, I actually thought you were smart for a second!"
