Is this the New Enterprise Model??

Waitaminute...nope, my eyes weren't fooling me. Your username is blue. NOT green.

I was actually stupefied that this is in fact the same guy I saw on Trekkies. I just didn't think that guy was actually doing any kind of stuff of a professional grade.

So kindly back off, please.

I still don't like his version of the Enterprise, I think it's absolutely horrid, but now I know he's actually doing something with his talent.

Just read this guy's Wiki profile and visited his site.

I'm highly impressed. I just had NO idea this cat was the same guy from "Trekkies."

I see he's done some amazing work...esp. on BSG.

I just looked Gabe up too, I do remember him from Trekkies 2, his work is outstanding from the technical standpoint as I remember some of his modelling as well, but whoever was the creative lead on that dropped the ball.

Y'know, I personally like your Enterprise, Gabe. By the way, are you going to share some of your favorite criticisms? :D

PS: OMFG!!!! It'S nOt TeH 0R1g1N4L!!! 1T t07ally suXx0rZZzzz!!!111eleventy-one! :p

No, that is Gabriel Koerner's "uber kewl" fanwank rape of the Enterprise.

Thankfully, not the Enterprise to be seen in Star Trek XI.

That's my favorite one ever :)

Gabe, let me issue a public apology here and now. I just didn't realize how talented you were. I frankly don't like your Enterprise. But I went to your site and it turns out I've looking at a lot of your work in much of my favorite shows/films.

You are extremely talented and are "living the dream," so to speak. I read that you were involved with the final episode of ENT, which I didn't know. Your work was the only good thing with that finale.

Anyway, forgive my harshness and thanks for contributing to our entertainment!

Chris

Gabe's ship is really nice and would work for a complete reboot of TOS. (if that ever happens in the future that is)

However, I don't think it'll fit in with the time period the film takes place, looks too modern Trek newish like.

I'm certain that isn't the Trek 11 E and to which I'm eternally grateful. Yuch. An ENT derived Mirror universe 1701 I'd believe, but not the real thing.

Let's all be grown-ups here and avoid PERSONAL ATTACKS, K?

And just FYI, Koerner's personal geekiness or lack thereof has ZERO to do with his skills. I don't PERSONALLY like his model, on engineering grounds, and also just basically because it's too much of departure from the classic (though he's brought it closer over time, and as it's gotten that way, I've liked it better). But even if I don't care of his APPROACH, I have to recognize that his skill in IMPLEMENTING it has exceeded anything I'm ever likely to do (my skills lie in entirely different areas).

He's worked on "Enterprise" (4th season fwd), CSI, Battlestar Galactica (new, obviously!), "Serenity," and a bunch of other stuff. Granted, some of the folks here could probably also be doing that, but it DOES take a certain degree of... uh... DEDICATION TO THE FIELD, shall we say, to decide to devote your entire life to doing this sort of stuff.

So, "Superman," seriously... unless you have BETTER qualifications, you might want to temper your attitude a teensie bit...

Gabe is one talented young man to be sure. He produces wonders, imho, with Lightwave.

I wasn't aware that Gabe did work for CSI.

I don't think it looks bad at all, personally. And it looks to be in line with what Abrams, Orci and Kurtzman have said about simply updating the look. I don't know where you guys are coming off with the whole 'okay for a mirror universe version' talk.

Because the TOS E was meant to present a sleek version of the future and not some fanboy's uber tech wet dream that would be more at home in Star Wars.

Geez, and I thought the rudeness in the Trek Art thread was bad.

I suppose y'all might as well start sharpening your knives, though, because it's rather unlikely that the Enterprise in Star Trek XI will look exactly like the old girl we've known and loved for 41 years. A saucer on top and three cigar shapes? Sure. But I daresay every detail beyond that is open to J.J.'s interpretation.

Gabe's had his baptism by fire over in the Trek Art forum. After that, this is all rather trivial. Heck, not even Digg or Slashdot could set him off now.

Oh! Any updates on that Enterprise model, Mr. Koerner? Or is your tinkering complete?

And I daresay that Professor Moriarty has a well functioning crystal globe. Matt Jefferies' basic design configuration will remain intact. But there will be, I predict, substantial modifications to the original Enterprise as we know it. Those modifications may possibly annoy quite a few fans.

Be prepared.

Man that model is awesome! While I want to see the original model in the movie, if it had to be changed I'd choose this one.

I wonder why some people are being so nasty over this. Fine, state you don't like the model but don't get personal over it. What's the point?

NO. This Enterprise still has same problems as Orginal Enterprise. Nacelles are ugly and neck is to thin and pylons are still weak to and too long. Enterprise for XI need to be sleek and combact, thow i have praise designer with good computer work.
