It just seems like it wouldn't have been much work to include the televised end of part one/beginning of part two using seamless branching.

Nah, CBS wants fans to spend the extra cash to buy a separate release. I consider the whole BOBW separate release to be a bonus disc that CBS wants fans to buy.

As cheap as the release felt, they've pretty much guaranteed that this consumer won't be picking these up in the future unless they're included in special deals like the one we saw at Target.
