Is the Wounds trade being delayed?

^ Agreed. I had to go to three bookstores before I found a half-decent copy of Gods of Night. Couldn't find a half-decent copy of Mere Mortals, so had to take the least beat-up copy I could find, and it does have this residue all over the spine like JD mentioned.

I'm usually pretty picky about the condition of the books I buy, and I've noticed a marked decline in the condition of ST books over the last few months. Not sure if it's related to new shipping practices or what, but I hope the situation improves.
I'm usually really picky too, but with these two I just forgot to look at the books before I grabbed them.

^And my Gods of Night, and Mere Mortals both had some thick clearish stuff on the spines.

Quite common, even in the 80s and 90s. It usually peels off very easily, although some spine ink colours come off with the glue. (The pinkish red was susceptible.)

Over recent years, quality control of the guillotining of edges has not been as stringent as in the past. That's what causes the chips edges.

My copies of Gods of Night and Mere Mortals have nothing wrong with them. Of course, I have the eBooks and the spines are perfect.

Which SCE stories are in Wounds besides Wounds 1 & 2?

It took me a long time both when I went to get GoN and MM to find the least damaged copies... I hope I have an easier time Wounds when the store gets it... at least they keep plenty of all the latest ST books, and will order them in otherwise. People have been buying ToF I think! :)

Which SCE stories are in Wounds besides Wounds 1 & 2?
Malefictorum by Terri Osborne, Lost Time by Ilsa J. Bick, Identity Crisis by John J. Ordover, Fables of the Prime Directive by Cory Rushton, Security by some long-haired hippie weirdo-freak, and then the title story by Ilsa.

Thank you much. I'm almost 1/2 done with Wounds Part 2. So I guess I'll be done before most people get their pbook edition.

Congratulations.

P.S.: You have Ilsa Bick's name wrong in your signature.

According to UPS my copy, along with the new 4400 book, is now in my companies mail room where it will probably sit for a day or two before I get it.

That's just the way it is, I would feel stupid marching down there demanding my non-work related Amazon order...

The mail room actually brought up my delivery the same day, I didn't have to wait. My copy looks good, no weirdness on the spine or anything like that.

Haven't started it yet though, wanted to read 4400: Wet Work, good stuff, and I'm half way through Mere Mortals then I'll probably get to it.

I shared this with Keith earlier today, but this bit from his bio in the Wounds collection made me laugh:

KEITH R.A. DECANDIDO co-developed Star Trek: Corps of Engineers with John J. Ordover in 2000, back when it was called S.C.E., and has written more eBooks in the series than anyone except for Dayton Ward and Kevin Dilmore (for which, of course, they must die).

^ LOL!!! :guffaw::lol::guffaw: I was reading another funny intro yesterday... now I can't find it... :( It was the first one I've seen... is her name Paula Block? Anyway, she was mentioned.

Any thoughts on this book? I am about to start reading it but I need some encouragement. I haven't read an SCE book yet [ever].

i'm still waiting for mine to ship from Amazon UK. ordered it Oct 30 and it's been delayed twice. supposed to ship this week...

Well I can report that they have reached the shores of this fair Emerald Isle and one of them successfully made the transition into my collection!

Consider it enlightened self-interest, but you'll find a locked-room murder mystery in the very first story.

This is my first SCE book too, and I'm not lost at all. I'm only on CR's story, but I've liked them so far- The first one is awesome, the second one is good/interesting, but... never mind, spoiler tag won't work... The the 3rd is a good, though I have a bone to pick with CR... can't say more! ;) and I'm on the fourth, which so far is stellar...

It depends on what you like- I like action... and the Dominion, :shifty: some people hate those things and only like character building, so...
