Is the Wounds trade being delayed?

Marie, do you like Vaughn? Because there have been a few books that feature Vaughn before he was on DS9. The two that I know best The Lost Era books, Serpents Among the Ruins, which follows the Enterprise-B crew and tells the story of the Tomed Incident, and The Art of the Impossible, which tells the story of the Betreka Nebula Incident. This ones kind of a stretch, but his partner and Prynn namesake, T'Prynn is also a main character in the Vanguard books.

OOOO, thanks for the suggestions! I do like him, and even tho, apart from his family stuff, they don't get into what he's thinking and doing a lot in the DS9-R, I always got the feeling that he was doing way more than he appeared to be... At some point one of the later DS9 books talks about how much better Taran'atar and Vaughn got to know each other than other people, possibly to me even Kira. So thanks for the heads up, cuz I'd like to read more about his character...

TBH, you've peaked my interest about T'Prynn too... I wasn't sure she'd still be alive...

Besides the two books JD mentioned -- which show Vaughn at a much younger age -- there's also The Battle of Betazed, which chronicles events mentioned in Avatar of Vaughn working with the Enterprise.

Serpents Among the Ruins takes place in 2311, 65 years prior to Avatar, and The Art of the Impossible covers 18 years from 2328-2346. Curzon Dax also plays a good-sized role in TAOTI. The Battle of Betazed takes place during the Dominion War.

As of the "present" of the 24th century (2376-2381), she isn't. As established in the flashbacks in Lesser Evil, she died in 2349. However, her appearance in Vanguard takes place in the 23rd century, during the same time as Kirk's original five-year mission. (She also has a cameo in The Art of the Impossible.)

Wow, Keith pimping books that aren't his? I'm shocked, I telll you, shocked!

*g, d, rlh*

Whats sad is that I own Lesser Evil... arghablarg....

My reading list must have some sort of virus... it keeps growing exponentially... I also wanna know how Betazed was freed... and about Curzon... though he strikes me as a strange fellow. Then again, so is Garak. After my exam: to the used book store (as opposed to the new book store who doesn't care if the books are mangled etc. For crying out loud... :klingon:)

Did you check out the links I put in the post? If not it might be a good idea.
Be sure to let us know what you think of the books after you finish them. As for myself they are some of my absoulte favorite books I've ever read.

I did indeed- and now I know where several of my favourite authors went...
(Prepares to kidnap them and lock them in a basement where they will be forced to write about the DS9-R).

(secretly shakes fist at acronyms)

I've sucked at figuring out century vs year since... always.... even though its soooo simple!

In the past, I haven't been big on Klingon's, but where Khitomer keeps coming up I've been wondering about what went on there... and the first one you mention just looks plain neat- I usually like DRG3's stuff... :)

I should be able to find these, I think... there are a couple of places.

Finally seeing the attack on Khitomer and meeting Worf's parents (or at least his father, I can't remember if his mother was in it) were some of my favorite parts of Art of the Impossible.
As for when everything takes place, the TLE books are all between the Kirk/Ent.-B part of Generations, and the beginning of TNG.

Sorry about derailing the thread, but I do have one more quick question, how far into TOS is Vanguard now?

As of Reap the Whirlwind, events were close to -- if not parallel with -- "The Corbomite Maneuver."

That most definitely will not be the case by the time you reach the end of Open Secrets.

(We now return you to your regularly-scheduled thread, already in progress.)

Cool, thanks. I have to admit that I'm really curious to see what (if any) effect some of bigger episodes like Balance of Terror, or Errand of Mercy have on the series.

How's the reading going for everyone who has it? I'm wishing it was last-page-less... =)
(I'm on the Wounds portion).

None. Absolutely none. At all.

We see both his parents, yes, including his never-named mother (whom I gave the name Kaasin).

For a moment, I thought you were talking about Helena, and I was quite confused.

I blame exams.

Ok, thanks.:bolian:

Perfectly acceptable reason.

Just finished this book a few moments ago and enjoyed it. A little review, that may contain spoilers:

Two things stood out for me. As a man, I enjoyed that all the stories had female characters at their centre. Don't know why I enjoyed that, but I suppose it makes a nice change. I had read Academy:Collision Course and Clive Cussler's The Chase before this so that may have influenced me.
The Wounds story itself was very good. I felt like shouting at Lense many times, especially when she knew she was lying to everyone.

One final thought: Loved the mention of the sonic screwdriver!
