Is the Terminator Franchise in trouble? (MOD CHALLENGE ITT)

Re: Is the Terminator Franchise in trouble?

The above post is almost as funny as the TrekUnited stuff from a few years ago.

Seriously, the show was already prohibitively expensive, its ratings were almost mediocre (at best) and you have absolutely no understanding of how the system works.

Re: Is the Terminator Franchise in trouble?

It's not going to happen. Get over it, move on. The show is over and I'm sure that the producers appreciate your dedication to the show but its pointless. It's not coming back.

You might have one thing going for you and that is if (and its a big if after the weekend box office) MGM decides to buy distribution of the Terminator Franchise back from Warner Brothers like is being rumored as potentially happening. The cost is $50 million.

BTW You may want to look more into Sarah Connor Society since its owners have been frequently contacted and consulted regarding the show and, more importantly, because the writers and Josh Friedman frequent the message boards. Same with TerminatorFiles.

It does not matter who owns it, but for those who own it, there is too much money at stake to just let it disappear.
They have paid for the franchise, with money. The potential is there, the fanbase is there.

If the management does not want to do anything with it, the owners may decide they need better management.

I say it is likely that TSCC will be back. Let us hope next fall. Do not despair anyone.

The franchise is owned by a company. It has investors. The investors want return for investment. They do not want Terminator to be forgotten and buried as they have paid for it. If it is let be for ten years, it is too late. With the series, even one year might well be too late.

To get return for the investment means doing something with (in this case) the series and movies.

It is no different than going to bank, getting a loan and buying a cab to earn a living. You will want to drive it, not let be in garage.

Save the SCC has the transcript of Friedman, Miller and Thomsen appearing on their irc http://www.savethescc.com/transcript.html
and terminatorwiki has Zack Stenz thanking fans

But they are not the people who decide on the continuation of the series so their sayings do not matter that much.
To those who make the decisions, the viewers matter more and thus the writers are asked to write what they think will attract most viewers etc. Often thus worsening the series.

These people who write and produce were selected by those who own the franchise. They may choose the same people again, or choose other people, for season three.

ITS DEAD JIM.

No more expensive than other shows and these ratings only counted one country. So even if Fox was not making money as it was advertising it to the wrong people and was not selling it elsewhere, the rights holders were. And wish to continue making money.
This is the reason the show will be back.

Re: Is the Terminator Franchise in trouble?

^ Just out of curiousity were you involved with TrekUnited for a new season of Enterprise? A lot of your posts remind me a lot of theirs.

Fine. Let's make a bet. If the show returns for the 2009-10 season, I'll buy you a premium account.

If it isn't back, you get banned.

LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!

Re: Is the Terminator Franchise in trouble?

Always bet on Duke.

And also me.

Re: Is the Terminator Franchise in trouble?

^ Just wanted to add, not sure why but I can't edit my last post, original novels will be written related to the events of TS.

Re: Is the Terminator Franchise in trouble?

some odd observations I have made, I recently bought T1 and T2, in T1, during the police HQ assault, the first 1/4th of it has the effects for the rifle and the shotgun reversed, and in T2, "Uncle Bob's" Software Version is 2.4

yes, the official novelization, in the back it says that several T:S novels are on the way

Was not. The Star Trek franchise is not a money-maker. And to make it one, it would have needed to go the Star Wars direction which I would not have wished it to, being an old trekker.
Was there some similarly named bbs before trekbbs? I think I used to write in one, back in the day when the bbs system still was used.

Re: Is the Terminator Franchise in trouble?

nx1701g completely confused me when he started talking about Cameron.

The Cameron I was referring to was James Cameron. He has said that his story for Terminator is over and that he was done with T2.

However, if you watch the documentary about the creation of T2:3D at Universal Studios he says that he sees the attraction as the leadup to his version of Terminator 3. Why he didn't continue the series in his own way has never been revealed and he didn't start with the T2 was the end of my story until T3 was announced under Mostow.

Cameron has said the same thing about T3 and T4, that they weren't bad films.

I realised who you were talking about but I did do a double-take!

Ya know, I quite like this idea. Posters putting their money (or posting privilages) where their mouths (keyboards?) are. Hmm, maybe we should use approach more often.

That or introduce gladiatorial combat to resolve canon disputes ...

Re: Is the Terminator Franchise in trouble?

It.. was kinda true from December 22, 2002 through till May 8th, 2009. :rommie:

Not even in that period. Alongside Star Wars, and recently LoTR, Star Trek makes money non-stop, be it DVDs, and even TV broadcast rights for any of the movies or series, which are still being sold every year.
You may be right. So his entire sentence is faulty.
