Is the new trek movie from the mirror-universe?

Urge

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Since things doesnt add up, and since star-trek has a mirror universe, could it be that Abrahams new movie takes place in the mirror universe?

If so, the consistancy of the show can be maintained, perhaps by the alternative Kirk ending up in normal-trek universe (where the planets Vulcan and Romulus are not destroyed) and get killed somehow.

That would be a good ending for Abrahams planned trilologi I think. We can have one more movie with good looking eye-candy, and perhaps a third one - as long as it introduced the normal universe of trek at the end, and that the alternative-Kirk gets blown up together with his ship.

I think this would require alternative-Spock to grow a beard, I have heard that his evil-twin have one.

Are you serious? That would be a terrible ending. I love stories in the MU, but that's just a terrible idea. Luckily, not going to happen.

^I assumed he meant "mirror universe" as in the mirror universe from "Mirror, Mirror", "In a Mirror, Darkly", "Crossover" etc.

That is correct. I was thinking about "Mirror Mirror"

The thing with the alternative universe is that it becomes too much when added on top of mirror-universe.

If alternative universe and mirror-universe could somehow merge....

We have already seen in "Parallels" that there are infinite alternate universes. The MU is just one of them that we keep revisiting, for some unknown (obviously, meta-narrative) reason. The NU (New Universe) is another. Not a big deal, really.

Let's see, are humans more evil than in the Prime universe? No. Are Vulcans slaves? No. Are there agonizers? No. And then there's the most important distinction, does Spock have a goatee? Again, no.
No, it's not really even close to the ordinary MU. But it is an altered/alternate/different universe/timeline/whatever.
And it's Abrams, not Abrahams. :) Sorry, can't help the nitpick.

Also Kirk and Spock in Trek XI work for the Federation, if this was the MU they would work for the Empire.

"Mirror Universe", "Alternate Universe", Alternate Timeline" - all one and the same thing.

I don't agree. Alternate universes may be separate from one another, but not in the same way as alternate timelines are. They're different, but a different kind of different. We know that individuals from different universes can be differentiated by their RNA (as Data showed in "Parallels" - he called it a 'quantum flux in the cellular RNA'), but I doubt this would apply to alternate timelines.

You think it might be possible, in the 24th century, to travel back and forth from the Prime timeline to the Abramsverse one? If not, then that's the end of it right there. ;)

It's like DC Comics' multiverse, really. AFAIK, as of now, each of the alternate 52 DC universes has its own infinite set of alternate timelines. I think Marvel's multiverse is the same. It's probably the same in Trek as well.

As for whether there could be an Abrams Mirror universe? Probably. In an infinite multiverse, literally anything is possible. Unfortunately we will probably only ever see this in novels, and even that's a maybe (as all Abramsverse Trek novels have been cancelled :( ).

I don't think you really understood what 'Parallels' was trying to convey.

It would be easy to travel between the prime universe and the NuUniverse. Simply travel back in time to, say, Bozeman Montana and hitch a ride back with Picard & crew.
