Is the flu pandemic stopping you from seeing May scifi movies?

Is the swine flu pandemic -- or at least, concerns about it, however justified -- deterring you from going to see Wolverine this week? Or *Star Trek* next week? And Terminator Salvation? Due to fears of being in crowded public areas?

This just happened so fast; we spent YEARS talking about avian flu, then....literally Wednesday I heard about "swine flu in Mexico". I work in New York City. By Friday, I heard of cases in Queens. Today I got public health warnings from were I work and warnings all over the place. Turns out the avian flu jumped to pigs, hybridized with swine flu and human flue, and the new H1N1 strain is a killer and spreading all across the country.

No. At this point it shouldn't stop a level headed person from attending anything.

Now if 2-4 weeks from now people are dying and becoming infected at startling rates, then sure. A level headed person would stay in cause now its serious Stateside.

As of now its not serious nationwide here in the US, a few cases, few and no deaths.

There was a day when an outbreak of Purity wouldn't have kept me from a Star Trek movie. Now I have to balance my ambivalence for Star Trek 2009 with my apathy over swine flu....

Unless this thing turns into the Zombie Apocalypse I'm not going to worry about it.

And even if it did, life would end up being a sci-fi film, so I wouldn't be clamoring for movies anyway.

Um.....no.

I'm sick and tired of these media fed health panics, just like mad-cow, and west-nile and plenty other before it.

As far as I know my Dad and I are still planning on going to Star Trek on opening weekend. We'll most likely go to an afternoon show though.

As for the other 2 big May movies I'll be waiting until I can get cheap used copies on DVDs a few weeks after they came out, which was what I was planning on doing in the first place.
