Is that Stargate Atlantis movie back on track?

I hope the Atlantis rap-up film materializes at some point. Maybe SyFy can co-fund it as an Original Movie if MGM lets them/wants them to?

Anyway as par DVD movies, I want to see a Disclosure film/TV series. Yeah it is a controversial topic in Stargate, many say it would take it out of our possibility of reality and just distance it too much from real life, but I believe that already happened with President Henry Hayes.

but I believe that already happened with President Henry Hayes.

Of course in the same episode as fictional President Henry Hayes we had real life Air Force Chief of Staff General John Jumper. And by season 10, Dick Cheney had become Vice President.

Stargate is in some sort of weird limbo where real people exist along side fictional ones.

That was the plan, Sci-fi Channel wanted a 6th season, MGM wanted a new series and Atlantis for a DVD movie because they could make more money.

Then everything fell apart at MGM and nothing there has changed.

What was the reference to him again? Was it a joke about when he shot his friend in the face?

Yeah. In Uninvited when all the hunters swarm the area trying to get the creature, Landry comments he doesn't want the place to become the O.K. Corral to which Mitchell responds "or a vice presidential hunting trip."

Admittedly, that only implies Cheney is Vice President. But I find it too coincidental that the Stargate univese has a fictional Vice President who also got into an incident invovling firearms while hunting.

Hell, we know that Kinsey was forced to resign, and we never learned who replaced him as VP. It might as well be Cheney.

(I know, I know, silly rationalization)

I think that was more a meta response to real-life events. Obviously, Kinsey was president and as such he had a vice-president, and whether that vice-president was Dick Cheney or not, the reference to the shooting accident was likely more done for the humor of the line than anything else.

I'm just going to assume that they kept Atlantis on Earth, since there is no reason to take it back to the Pegasus galaxy, and that they made it their new home of operations for the Stargate program, since it has a superior Stargate on board, and they somehow managed to get it back to the outpost in Antarctica and hook it back up. That is a good place to have Stargate operations from, away from everything. I like it, and thats what I want to have happened. The Atlantis story is over, the city ship is back home.

You forgot - "They lived happly ever after."

I'm excited to see McKay and Woolsey again, but I really miss Sheppard, Ronon, Teyla and Beckett.

...and Weir and Ford for that matter, but that's another discussion for another forum. (Specifically, GateWorld. Heh.)

Looks like MGM is about to be rescued by Spyglass Entertainment, so we could start to see movement on the Stargate front again.

Spyglass Entertainment has catered to science fiction and fantasy quite a bit. To name a few, they had a hand in producing The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Reign of Fire and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (not to mention the Abrams Star Trek).

Some how I don't think little DVD film is going to be a priory.
I don't think its ever going to be made now.Its been too long,I think all the props have been sold off.:(
