Spoilers Is Star Trek Picard In An Alternate Universe?

For those of you who haven't yet seen "Endgame" Which is Star Trek: Voyager's last episode, spoiler!

In the last episode of Star Trek: Voyager, future captain Janeway goes back in time to alter the events that took place. She also mentioned that 7 of 9 dies... In Star Trek Picard, 7 of 9 appears in the show and since future Janeway created an alternate universe, Star Trek Picard must be an extension of that alternate universe.

Everything made after Voyager follows on from the events that happened in that episode in the present. I don't think we know if the original timeline still exists as its own separate universe, unaffected by Janeway's time travel, or if it was just erased. Time travel is confusing.

Picard isn't the alternate universe.

The one where future Janeway came from is.

That alternate universe is what Janeway came back in time to fix. And she did. Her future (where Seven dies and Tuvok is a vegetable) was never meant to be.

The real future, which Picard (and every other Trek show) is part of, follows from that.

As @Ray Hardgrit and @Mr. Laser Beam mentioned, it’s future Janeway that comes from the alternate universe. It’s the entire point of the episode, the future Janeway wanted to undo her own past, in large part to save Seven.

And we saw the main timeline continued with the Voyager crew having returned in 2378 with the aid of alternate future Janeway in Endgame long before Picard, when we see Vice Admiral Janeway a year later in 2379 in Star Trek Nemesis.

The whole point of Admiral Janeway going back in time was to stop the future she knows from happening. She succeeded. So Seven doesn't die.

Fin.

And "Endgame" came out 21 years ago. So no need to worry about spoilers. If anyone here hasn't seen it by now, they're not going to and they don't care about spoilers. ;)

There's lots of Voyager episodes I haven't watched yet! I'm currently watching through the whole series and Endgame is one of the only season seven stories I've already seen before.

I'm not saying people should be more careful about spoilers, the forum rules were right there for me to read before I signed up, but it's not an unusual situation for someone to have just not gotten around to watching something yet for 21 years. And some people are only 21 years old!

She got better.

I don’t think it’s any less of valid theory than the one people have that Enterprise is in a different universe because of the events of First Contact.

To play devil's advocate...the OP is actually correct. The timeline where Voyager returned to Earth in 2394 is in fact the 'prime' timeline. There was no indication that this was not how the events were supposed to happen. The only reason why it was wiped out was that Admiral Janeway hated her life and went back in time to change history for her own selfish reasons. Everything was pretty much fine in that timeline, with the exception of Chakotay and Seven being dead, and Tuvok being nuts. She wanted 7 and Chuckles to be alive and together. That was literally the only reason why Admiral Janeway did what she did. Except we see in PIC that Seven and Chakotay did not in fact end up together despite AJ changing the timeline. So while they're both now alive, it was all for nought.

Yes, ST: Picard takes place in the altered timeline Old Janeway created in "Endgame"

Ditto Star Trek Nemesis, Star Trek: Prodigy (although that seems to mess with the timeline as well), Discovery seasons 3+ etc.

I mean, technically all of 24th century Trek is in an alternate timeline, created when the Enterprise-C was returned to 2344 in "Yesterday's Enterprise".

No, that's not an alternate timeline. It was the original timeline, restored.

The only "alternate" in that episode is the Klingon War.

According to Daniels, the Xindi attack was never supposed to happen, so the entirety of the Trek franchise aside from the first two seasons of Enterprise are an alternate timeline.
