Is Revenge of the Fallen a good blind buy?

I'd agree with most of the posters here that if you enjoyed the first one, you'll probably enjoy this one too, particularly since it's longer and features more of the TF characters than they did in the first movie, especially the Decepticons. The entire (surviving) cast is in this movie as well as few new ones, which is always good for any sequel (if you liked the first one of course). I have mixed feelings about the live-action TF movies in general as I am more "wedded" to the G1 characterizations and storyline that I grew up with and consider the original (animated) TF movie (1986) one of my absolute favorite movies. It's hard not to be happy, however, that, in a stroke of genius IMHO, Bay was able to get Peter Cullen to voice Optimus Prime in the live-action movies as well.:techman:

I assume you mean the robots. Several human characters from the first film did not appear in the second film.

O.k. Well, MOST of the cast from the first movie return for the sequel. All of the majorly important ones do anyway, although the military guys (Gibson and Duhamel) don't get as much screen time as they did in the first one. Spike, his nutty parents, Mikela, the bumbling Secret Agent played by John Turturro show up again and play a major part in the events of the second one. Am I missing anybody else? I've only seen it once- shortly after it opened.

I saw the movie. Not a complete disaster. It just okay. I liked the first movie much better.

It would have been a better movie if it was 30 minutes shorter. They should've gotten rid of all the stupid humor scenes like the dogs humping each other, the mom being an idiot, and the retarded Autobot twins. The Alice subplot went absolutely nowhere. After the great forest battle in the middle of the movie that involved Optimus Prime, all of the later fights were disappointing in comparison.

I can't help but imagine what these movies would be like if we had someone else besides Michael Bay as the director.

Maggie and Glen, the hackers who discovered the alien signal, weren't in ROTF, but there was no reason for them to be in this story. Defense Secretary Keller wasn't around either, although it made sense, since Obama was POTUS in ROTF, instead of President Ding-Dong (a fictitious one, as opposed to the 44 real ding-dongs ).

I still want to know what happened to Barricade. He disappeared in the first film, and he did not appear in the second.

To be honest with you, guys, Micheal Bay is screwing transformers franchise so much ever since he's really the bad director here, because all he cares is to bring dangerous scenes, dangerous bombs to go around.

That didn't bothered me at all. Micheal Bay shouldn't never take the job as director and executive producer to make transformers to looking so stupid in the first place, let alone Shia's finger was injured from that scene where he transported to Egypt. What I find it so damn annoying that Optimus Prime didn't get airtime in the film.

If I were the director and executive producer here, I would make the movie more likable, you know? Less dangerous scenes, less explosive!

Micheal Bay..what was he thinking? After all, I enjoyed the two films. I bet you that in about 20-30 years from now, there will be another live-action transformers movie once again to correct this! Anyone agreed with me that there will be another live action movies to correct this?

The movies have been huge financial successes, and Hasbro's toy sales have picked up tremendously as well. The franchise has been doing very well.

I have nothing to say about how "dangerous" his movies are, since it is irrelevant to me.

ROTF's story is weak and disjointed, but as a thirtysomething Transformers fan, I found this to be one of my biggest gripes with the movie. At the beginning of the film, Optimus is the ultimate Autobot -- strong, tough, intelligent and wise. Then he's "killed," and after he's revived, he resorts to cheap lines like, "You picked the wrong planet," and "Give me your face." He also shows no appreciation to Jetfire for his sacrifice. I know Prime's absence in the movie was a necessary evil in order to make Sam the movie's hero, but dang it, Optimus Prime is awesome.

I thought the president in the first film was supposed to be GWB. For what very little we see of him (just a couple of seconds before the Secret Service blocks our view), he *looked* like the real one, and spoke with the same voice.

Seconded. Unfunny "funny scenes" (the dogs, Sam's parents at the college), unfunny "funny characters" (the twins who aren't even the RIGHT twins, Wheelie), long distance battle footage where you couldn't even tell who was who half the time (can anyone HONESTLY say they could tell which Decepticon was which in the big fight other than obvious ones like Devestator?)...

And where is Bay going to go from here? He's already done all the "big punch" bits (character deaths, all-spark, Matrix story, etc).

I don't regret seeing it, but then again I rented it from Redbox for a buck. Furthermore, I pretty much am through with the LA Transformers. From this point forward, it's G1 on DVD for me...

Oh yeah, I forgot about the hackers (including they guy who played Andrew in Buffy) and the Defense Secretary played by Voight. Yeah, their roles weren't necessary in terms of the second movie. I've only seen the first one once so far, so I guess my memory of the first is a little fuzzy.

I will never get this 2 and 1/2 hours of my life back, and I liked the first movie. This reminds me a lot of the 3rd Spidey film. Lots of junk that we didnt need and that did not in anyway help the story. Finally why when the all spark creates bots are they all evil???

My impression was that he was more Clinton than GWB, due to his liking of Ding Dongs and his reference to the female assistant as "darlin."
