Until reading this thread, I never realized Nana Visitor was a stage name. I always thought of nana as a Spanish word for Grandma, and have always thought she seemed far too young for that title. 
I still find it surprising that Nana is her given first name and that it is her last name that she altered. I really don't understand the controversy about her name, though.
