Two original thoughts for the 1977 Star Wars was that it would be either with the leads all being played by those of Asian descent or little people. Could have been very interesting and different.

I also agree that having a Star Wars film without white people would be just fine. Its not something I'm particularly gunning for but if that's the direction they chose to take, fine by me. I just want to be entertained. As @Ricky Spanish says, it just doesn't bother me. If that makes me "racist," sobeit.

Im not sure I see the point of leaving out white people if everyone else is represented and if your going for a single race then it means it isn't just white people not represented. Not sure this has the same impact that Black Panther or Atlanta does because they explore real stuff here in our world. Jason

'Ruining Star Wars' - been hearing this phrase consistently for twenty years, since Phantom Menace came out. At the time, I found the fresh outrage amusing. Recently the phrase, when used without irony, sounds infantile and unoriginal.

The phrase should be extended for accuracy. "Ruining Star Wars for me" would me a more complete assessment.
For example:

Kathleen Kennedy ruined Star Wars for me.
George Lucas ruined Star Wars for me.
Rick McCallum ruined Star Wars for me.
Other Star Wars fans ruined Star Wars for me.

Well, and for EU cannon stuff, it was trashed with the Prequal stuff back in 1999.. Timothy Zahn books descibed the clone wars as completly different to what appeared on movie and Tv.. only thing that really ported over was Courecant name..
So the thing of EU Cannon has been nuked for over 20 years now..

As for diversity.. I agree.. give me a good story.. I don't care who's up on screen pushing out the lines as long as there a good actor and a compelling script.. Now, give it more inclusion like Lucas did with the Ewocks and even Willow with the actual people with Dwarfism, even tall people.. Diversity isn't only skin color... Inclusion isnt only skin color or orinetation.. Infinite diversity through infinite combinations :)

As a fan of the old EU, a lot of it was just shit and there just isn't enough of the new EU yet. I've really enjoyed Heir of the Jedi, it's a great Luke focused story. The good EU stuff was great, but for every Thrawn trilogy there's also dozen Courtships of Princess Leia. I do wish I could have read that Sword of the Jedi series though.
What they should of done was just culled the shit parts and kept the good parts. Though I have seen some of the better old EU bits seep back into the new EU like Thrawn, thankfully.

I'm in his corner. I guess I'm a racist too? Even though I'm white, married to a white woman, which we've had three white children together...

Or... it simply doesn't bother me to see a film where other cultures and races are the focus. Irritating people like you is simply icing on the cake.
Seeing as it is a galaxy far far away they wont exactly have our "cultures" or really even our races.

If you read the old EU it becomes pretty clear what are good books and what is little more than toilet paper.
That's up to the individual to decide. I personally think the entire Vong series is absolute garbage, not a dime's worth of value in it. Others will disagree.

There can be no categorical declaration of "toilet paper."

And so what? Lucas's stuff in the OT, PT and TCW don't line up. Maybe we should throw the OT out too because they aren't consistent? You are always going to have inconsistencies in a shared universe where you have multiple creators with their individual interpretations and opinions of something. Inconsistencies happen. Look at the DC or Marvel universe (and they have armies of editors coordinating everything).
