IS it worth saving twelve dollars to get the set used?

Over at half.com I found the first season of DS9 is being sold (by one of the sellers at least) for around 50 dollars brand new. Down in the used section the cheapest price there is about 38 dollars. The seller insists the discs are like new condition, it's just the package that has some wear and tear.

So is it really worth saving twelve dollars to get the set used? Or should I just go ahead and pick up the new set?

If you're using Amazon, I tend to REALLY check the product descriptions of the "used" version.

If it says "Used--Like New", that tends to be a good sign, but just in case, look at the comments the seller makes about it. Any scratches? Is it in the original case--and what the condition of that?

In the end, I end up saving around 8 dollars to the 12, at best, 6 to the 12 at worst.

Depends on how tight you want to tie your belt, I guess.

It was Half.com, and I went ahead and got the new (factory sealed) one that cost about 50 bucks.

I'm so excited though, I've always wanted to visit DS9, since it was always on weird times in first run, plus I never got into it while TNG was on the air, because a series that didn't involve a star ship boldly going etc. didn't appeal to me at the time.
