Is it worth keeping or taking back? Watered down 50th collection.

Ok, so for the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek, I decided to buy this (http://trekcore.com/blog/2016/09/review-star-trek-50th-anniversary-blu-ray-collection/). Having only ever watched TNG, I wanted to get both collect a cool collection and watch TOS all in one go (other then 1 episode and the first 3 movies, TOS is new to me).

So in Australia I picked up the collection, on special and opened it literally 10 minutes ago to.......a watered down collection.

Outside the Box which is almost identical, the discs are just stored in a HUGE plastic holder, with the movies, bonus disc and TAS being separate in their own normal Blu-Ray boxes. Plus the six vector-graphic movie prints in plastic to the side.

No Badge, no fancy packaging outside the box and no real indication of a 50 year collection outside it printed on the box and generic disc boxes.

So other then the bonus disc items, is keeping this worth it? Netflix has TOS streaming, along with the TAS and without the collection, disgarding TAS, I could buy all this just over 3 dollars more then what I paid today, and that included EVERY movie, not just TOS.

The disc boxes are generic (I can provide pictures if needed), the discs look to be the same as whats already out (the listed review described episodes listed on the labels, but thats not here) and the box is as cheap as you can get.

I understand I got it cheaper then I expected(128, down from 160, normal listed price was 200 something), however the box is literally the same as the actual box in all the other reviews, press releases and more, and I never noticed anything that would have implied the one I bought was not the universal one (however when I opened it, I was embarrassed the price did not catch my eye to it being different).

So ultimately my question is, is what I got worth keeping, or am I more better TRYING (its un-sealed to a LOT of hassle will be involved) to get a refund. Is what is included worth keeping for the 50th Anniversary (or just as a collection of TOS) or shall I just Stream it until I can pick up a copy of the real edition (probably online for 3x more)

Like I said, even outside of streaming, I could pay 3-4 dollars more for everything in this minus TAS and get all the movies, not just TOS films and I just feel cheated having paid this, for what is a very watered down feeling collection for the 50th (even if I stupidly did not consider the cheaper price being different)

here is the link to the website who sold my copy (I brought it in store however) for those interested:https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv...-50th-anniversary-tv-movie-collection/973245/

Yes I just noticed it never said the Pin (magnet, whatever) was not included, but these descriptions have left out items before and it was always included.

tl;dr over-paid kinda for a complete TOS collection with 50th Anniversary bonus features included, worth keeping or try to take it back to gain the one presented EVERYWHERE else.

Netflix doesn't even come close to the quality of a Blu-ray.
It is extremely compressed.

I wonder if you got a bootleg fake box set? The cases for the true 50th set make it clear what you have. And the Animated series is in the same box as the original series.

I bought the set at a local Best Buy and paid the same price you do. $80 cheaper than Amazon.

The back lists only basic information on the discs information (each movie, Original Show and Animated's Audio information, resolution, etc) and nothing else, front however, on the plastic you rip off had stickers of the bonus features and every Movie, TV show and Animated listed as included (nothing in terms of how everything is presented, nothing on the badge but it does list the 'art illustrations'). As for the Animated Series, with the movies and ONE Bonus feature disc, they are in separate, normal Blue Blu-Ray cases (while TOS is in the big fat plastic case).

As for it being fake, dispite almost nothing on the regional differences, the UK did have a kind different box (but still more fancy), however I found two listings of the Aussie version being 'different' with one being a Youtube comment as follows

"Excellent review. The UK version is so much better than the Australian set- which has no artwork labels on the discs, or a nice slipcase on the outer box, or slipcases on the digipacks! The Australian version has tiny postcard versions of the larger deluxe poster cards in your UK set . Looks like I will be importing this!"

and a Forum Post with this

"JB Hifi and a few other retailers managed to bring in the 50th Anniversary box sets.
I'm happy I didn't preorder from Amazon originally as their price is much higher at $209 + postage + conversation vs JB's $160 for Blu Ray or $140 for DVD prices :)

I do think though there is a difference in the packaging inside between the US and the version we get here in Australia.
The US version seems to have the Discs within a carton sleeve while the Aussie version I got they were in a huge plastic container type case all 3 seasons of TOS."

Also the retailer is 100% genuine, so its more Australia lucked out then a bootleg copy, as all the boxes looked the same in the shop.

I don't know how this works in Australia... But in the US, retailers will not take back media items that have already been opened, unless defective to exchange for the exactly the same item.

My friend in retails who I contacted shortly after this said the possibility of a refund if around 70% due to the fact the people who promoted the original announcement never said anything about regional changes and the retailer selling a product that differs to the same product overseas (The name is identical and the images provided on the site omit the changes). Apparently it happens alot with Anime or old time (not unline ST) box sets where online and local media will promote the product as the american, and yet the final product, despite small changes (such as the omition of the lack of badge on the box) are almost nothing alike. Somewhere in Australian Consumer Laws, there is a claim (or a possibility, in the language). I don't know the full details, but he basically in a nut shell said if you can show that one product is extremely different but named the same elsewhere, and hamper the store (some stores will flat out refuse, others will contest and some might just refund it on the spot) AND its in re-sellable condition, they give a refund so they don't get ACCC on their backs (I believe it was the ACCC).

However yes, in most cases they will refuse it, this just happens to have a chance due to identical box fronts and names and certain ways Australian law works in the way of advertisement. However I am no expert.

He might be BS-ing me, but he said it happens and he refunded a few, so I have a chance, however part of my question here is what I got worth the trouble refunding?
