Okay. I've seen the new Trek and understand there's more to your question than there appears at first blush.
I feel that Abrams is a technically gifted enough director, and surrounds himself with creative enough people, to turn out a good Superman flick. What I still feel is not needed are the revisions in the script. Trek - in my opinion - was a fattened slow moving animal trembling under the weight of its own bloated continuity. A script which rejigged many familiar elements to move in a clean, fresh direction was needed.
Superman, I don't feel has that sense of being hemmed in by its past. The familiar Superman elements don't necessarily need to jettisoned as they were in the Abrams proposed script because there is much about the character - and many adventures in his universe - which are still unexplored. The character simply needs a good story.
