Is it time for Peter David to go?

ATF takes place prior to Nemesis. MIA takes place just before and then after Shinzon's assassination of the Senate as Soleta recieves word of the event after fighting off an attempt to destroy her ship by another Romulan vessel. However, it's not clear how much time passes between MIA and Turnaround...

given Jellico's resignation in LtP, i'd guess he'll have to deal with it somehow...

I'm going to get more and more confused with NF books, since I don't read the relaunch books and skipped the comic series.

But almost every author gives you all the background you'll need to enjoy each book as a standalone entity, except for obvious duologies and trilogies. No author is going to assume that you've read numerous other novels (by other writers) before picking up their new book.

Your reading may be enhanced by having read other titles, but you won't be "more confused".

I'd say you're probably going to miss more if you've not read the comic than you will if you've not read Destiny and its follow-ups. One thing I've noticed from PAD's comic work is that he doesn't play well with others; if he's not interested in a crossover, either he'll half-heartedly play along and take the complete piss, or he'll ignore it completely. If Losing the Peace conflicts with his plans for New Frontier, he'll ignore it.

That was the feeling I got reading his Gateways contribution, as I recall.

No.

Aside from Before Dishonor (and I still don't understand how the title relates to the book), there's nothing wrong with Peter David's recent works. Personally, I think the later New Frontier books are written just as well as the earlier ones, although they are less creative.

Yahoo Answers says it's one of the principles of the samurai. Me, I thought it was Shakespeare, but that's just because 65 percent of the quotes you wonder about come from Shakespeare or the Bible. ;)

Really? Interesting. What relevance does it have to the book?

(It doesn't help that I've forgotten most of the book - that whole Resistance/Before Dishonor/Greater Than The Sum thing just bled into one for me, and I can't even begin to separate them in my mind. I pretty much just think of it as a trilogy at this point. And -again, personally - one of the worst I've ever seen in Star Trek. I couldn't help feeling that all of the above were the worst novels of those particular authors*. Just wanted to say that aloud :techman: )

*Which is annoying, because these are some of my absolute favorite Trek authors! Maybe I've just come to expect too much from them... My bad.

The saying would be "death before dishonor." Perhaps it refers to the Borg's complete unwillingness to be defeated, perhaps it refers to Janeway's attitude towards being desecrated by becoming the new Queen, or maybe it was something else entirely.

Beats the hell out of Quantum of Solace, at any rate. Which isn't a Trek book, of course, but I'm just sayin'...
