Is it important to watch in order?

I got a box set of season 4 around xmas, I just finished it. It was as neat as i remembered in the 90s on WNUV TV 54 Baltimore. Saw eps i missed, and the picture quality on DVD was grand! So now that i was done this i wanted to get season 5. That was the year I stopped watching star trek (when thier suits turned grey and Sisko's badge was on the grey part of his goofy grey and black jacket.

So I found seasons 6 and seven used for 60 dollars and i got them at the Record and Tape Traders store. 5 was there, but now its gone. So should i just watch seasons 6 and 7, or wait til have enuff money and can find season 5 used somewhere? Is it that important to watch in order. I mean i've seen bits and pieces of all the last 3 years of Deep Space during the spike re-runs. What to think Watch what i bought, tear those packages open and enjoy them or wait a few weeks...months whatever?

I want to watch them i think~!:guffaw:

From S4 on, the show becomes pretty arc'ed, so, if you haven't seen all of it, you'd probably find yourself enjoying it more, if you watched all in order. Once familiar with the whole story, you can certainly watch it out of order. Skipping S5, won't necessarily hurt anything, but, I think you might deprive yourself of some enjoyment that you won't be able to get back on your next watch through

I only saw DS9 for the first time about two years ago on various people's advice and was told to start with season 3 as first two were shaky and might put me off. It's since become one of my fave Trek shows and I can why they advised as did. There's some fun stuff in S1-2 but I don't think it really gets going to S3.

ok i see. Well thank u! Maybe i will open them up because who knos if i will even have enuff money to get season 5. my gf will kill me i spent 100 dollars or so on 5 season of star trek 60 on 3 tos seasons and 55 on Deep Space no 115!!! well now they are mine so i dont have to wait for that spike to show them again. all they show is worlds manliest coal miners, octogon fighter beeting each other up because they have too much teststerone, and worlds dumbest criminals

Yes its heavy on Arcs from S3 on so Order is important although once u have seen it all u can always skip.

I don't think it really is that important to watch the episodes in order. I mean if you can, go for it and it probably will be more enjoyable. But if for whatever reason you can't watch in order, it's not that big of a deal. I love DS9 and its storylines are much more continuous than any other Trek, but all in all it's not that complex a show, and even if you start watching in the middle of a season you're not going to be hopelessly lost. It's pretty easy to deduce what's going on.

Should just get Netflix. They have all the Trek shows on instant streaming and they offer a free month trial for new users.

To understand the plot, for the most part, no, it is not important to watch in order.

However, to get the full effect of the themes in play, yes, it is important to watch in order.

The overriding theme in Season 5 is the tension that builds between the Dominion and the Federation. You can understand Season 6 without having seen that build up, but Season 6 is much more fulfilling if you watch it in its context as an escalation.

Everything depends from the perspective. If you are looking for a whole plot and how one thing is getting to the other with a Dominion and Federation or Federation and Bajorans you need to watch it episode after episode in the right order, but if you just look for a good trekkie fun not nessesery getting into a politics between Federation and the others just skip a first two seasons and watch all the rest then comeback to everything including first two from the begining, first two seasons may be boring a bit but they are very interesting if you like to know more about diferent spicies and there history and belives. Anyway enjoy in any chronology of watching :)

(sorry for mistakes I am dislectic :P)
