Is every episode SOMEBODY'S favorite?

"Threshold" was a pretty decent character piece sandwiched between two truly appalling bits. First, the notion of a shuttlecraft going Warp 10, that's a little like finding a street legal engine that will go 300 mph and putting it in a minivan. And second, salamanders. Nuff said.

Don't really understand the 'street legal' part of the comparison. Why wouldn't they mount a 'rocket engine' on their 'minivan' if they think it's technically feasible (and safe enough to try?). In the ep, it's not as if some DQ authority is going to give them a slap on their fingers for mounting a too powerful engine on a shuttlecraft. (Well, the R'Kaal might, but their territory was still tens of thousands of parsecs away, even if they hadn't been made up by the EMH posing as Janeway). I agree that it's not very likely from a technical perspective though, but then again, this is Star Trek :)).

Back on topic, I agree with those that say that probably every episode has a (small or large) crowd of people who happen to like it, but that it's doubtful whether every ep is actually someone's favourite. But you never know, tastes are wide and varied. For all I know, there's someone that values order very highly that favours Shades of Grey because of its neat categorisation of experiences in a 'positive' ''negative' and 'very negative emotions' basket :)

As part of my production-order TOS rewatch, I watched And the Childen Shall Lead followed by Spock’s Brain. Both episodes are not generally considered likely favourites. I found SB to be a fairly solid science-fiction episode, and it moved along pretty briskly (perhaps let down somewhat by the surgery scene). I liked it much better than I remembered. ATCSL however I still dislike. I think one of the reasons (among other complaints I have) is that the episode is plotted in such a way that the audience is told early on exactly what is going on and we have to sit around and wait for our heroes to catch up, which makes much of the episode feel redundant.

Couple of episodes I'd like to put out there to see if they have any die hard fans (as I personally found them excruciating): TNG Cost of Living
I'll take you up on that! It's one of my favourite episodes, but two things: 1) I've personally dealt with some of the issues around family members' needs as they age, and 2) I love the Lwaxana episodes (another rarity haha).

I think you may be thinking of "Half a Life", which I think is a great episode.

"Cost of Living" is where Lwaxana and Alexander hide from her wedding duties in the holodeck. Which I don't mind.

"The higher... the fewer!" is a line I use in real life often enough with my brother. Cracks us up still.

I can't see "Shades of Grey" being in the top 10 of anybody's list.
Though I admit to liking the Riker stuff between the clips, it wouldn't save the episode for any. "Code of Honor" has basically no redeeming qualities and have yet to read of anybody saying otherwise.

I'm half way there. I love the overall concept behind the episode.

The actual shot for the episode moments I love.

The surgery/alien vein thing is something we should have seen way more of.

For a bad episode it certainly is good at certain things.

I honestly thought the episode was pretty engaging during a rewatch, until I realize the episode was just a bunch of clips.

Code of Honor is one of Yarr's best episodes for what that is worth. I lived that battle scene as a 6 year old.

I would guess so. I mean, they say that one man's trash is another man's treasure. It is all subjective, and everyone has different likes and dislikes.

Urgghhh!! Please! I just ate! :barf:

I'm not fond of either character... but this one wasn't either one's worst episode.

At least it was unique, between the weapons and the arena.

I still maintain that "Shades of Gray" is underrated. Not only was its "clip show" nature necessary, given the situation... but it actually had some good moments.

I've never understood why "Move Along Home" is so disliked. It's an escape room, something that is very popular in real life.

For my part, I thought it finished too abruptly and could have done with being a lot longer!

Edit to correct spelling

I think it's the Rhyme, and making the main cast recite it. It isn't really a bad episode, but that Rhyme scene was cringy.

Yes, maybe these days. I was thinking more along the lines of when it was airing when it wasn't the most popular show around.

VGR was still the most popular one-hour drama on the United Paramount Network (UPN), which is how it lasted seven seasons, even though its ratings were lower than TNG and DS9 on first-run syndication.

"The Way to Eden" is one of my favorite original Star Trek episodes.
The Final Frontier and Insurrection are two of my favorite Star Trek films.
"Sub Rosa" is one of my favorite episodes of The Next Generation.
Neelix is one of my favorite Star Trek characters.
"Endgame" is my favorite series finale.
Discovery is my favorite of the streaming-era Trek series (I'm not sure if this opinion is widely controversial or not).
