Is Entetprise over?

"Entetprise" never started, I think. :rommie:

Rather seriously I think it'll depend on a) how Romulan War sold and b) if a author pitches something good.

With the way the:rommie: war ended will we see another ENT novel?

Nothing official has been announced, but I can see several different directions they could take for future books.

1) Reunion type stories that take place after the founding of the Federation, where we get to see how the characters lives have moved on and/or something arises to bring them back together again. This has been used in TOS plenty of times. The Last Round-Up springs to mind (not to mention The Motion Picture, Wrath of Khan and Undiscovered Country).

The major draw back with a story like this is that getting to use the NX-01 could be problematic, since it was supposed to be decommissioned. But books were written that took place aboard the 1701-A after Undiscovered Country, so it could still be done.

II) Books set during the TV series. Personally, I'd love to see books that take place during the 4th season, or in between the 4th season and The Good That Men Do.

C) Expanded books on the Romulan War. You could take nearly any chapter in To Brave the Storm and write a whole book around it.

Personally, I hope we continue to get an Enterprise novel each year. I'd hate to see it completely closed.

Personally, I'm hoping that they renew the old Starfleet: Year One thing that came out before Enterprise. It would have the potential for a broad enough base that all the characters from Enterprise could be included, as well as showing the early days of Starfleet.

Why bother bringing back something that's already been contradicted by canon? ENT has already laid down a solid foundation for stories set in the early days of the Federation, which I hope we see some day. There is a ton of potential in that era.

If anything, we might see versions of characters from Starfleet: Year One make cameos in the ENT novel line, not the other way around.

I would like to see more ENT books showing the formation of the UFP and integrating Starfleet with member species. There is a lot left to be done in the 22nd century.

However, ENT is dead for me unless another author picks up on the series.

Ah, don't be so harsh. From what I've heard, the last novel was supposed to be two books so everything was cramped. But still I gotta admit, the Romulan War somewhat left me uncaring. Too bad since it really could've been a great novel series.

However, I'd love to read a few novels leading up to the foundation of the Federation.

I think I read in another thread that the current official word is there are no new Enterprise novels planned. But, that doesn't mean anything at all since there are no firm plans yet regarding any Trek novels for 2013.

Even if "To Brave the Storm" was 2 novels compressed into one, it was poorly done. Many of the key action sequences were skipped over. The scene on Mars with Picard and the scene with the aliens from "cogenitor" (I believe that was the ENT episode) contributed little to the story.

If material had to be cut to finish the story, all the wrong stuff was cut leaving a very boring and confusing read.

I think ENT differed from other Trek series in the sense that it had a specific end point--namely the formation of the Federation. That doesn't mean that there can't be any further stories featuring those characters, but I think it would require a new spinoff series, IMO.

As much as I would like to see more Enterprise novels, I want 2013 to have DS9 novels to celebrate the DS9 20th anniversary.

That would be quite a feat given the current state of the DS9 command crew though.

I'd love DS9 books in the tv series timeline, which probably won't happen. DS9 books set in the Typhon Pact era seem kind of pointless.

I haven't read Starfleet: Year One, and likely never will. What I meant was for future ENT books to have a new title and focus on Starfleet as a whole in the early years of the Federation.

I don't think I'd say pointless, I know that a lot of characters are spread around now, but that doesn't mean new characters can't be introduced. And we do have two Typhon Pact novels involving DS9 characters coming out in a couple months, for all we know they could end with all or most of the characters back together on the station.

Why is that the end of ENT? The series showed a lot more story line than the formation of the UFP. I'd say they spent more time on the temporal cold war.

The DS9 Saga didn't end with Bajor endtering the UFP. The VGR saga didn't end with the crew returning to the alpha quadrant.

With the war over, there is still much to be done. Also, if the characters are liked by fans, we would read to see what happens with them.

For me personally, the only ENT character I really liked is Tripp and it is unlikely we will see him in Starfleet again.

Ohh, I see. I apologize, I thought you meant a new book series based on Year One. :ouch: In that case, yeah, I agree with you. Though I expect they'd still keep the "Star Trek: Enterprise" title simply for brand/era recognition.
