Is Dave Ross coming back?

So while Episodes 1&2 were shooting Davros' chair and costume were off display at the DW Experience in Cardiff. No biggie as props get taken down for cleaning and maintenance now and then. But now while they're shooting the Finale they've gone missing again.

And come to think of it those two publicity photos they've released don't half look like Skaro circa Genesis Of The Daleks...

That was the rumor in the Mirror a few months ago. I dismissed the Mirror rumor because it was too fanwanky, too "small universe" for Doctor Who. The New Adventures did that sort of thing, the Star Trek novels do that sort of thing, Big Finish does that sort of thing. Britain's mainstream television success shouldn't be doing that sort of thing.

The picture of Capaldi on the hazy landscape, though, had made me reconsider whether or not there might be some validity to that rumor.

I'm really hoping they don't do that rumoured storyline of the Doctor contemplating the murder of a child Davros. Where is the drama in that? If the Doctor couldn't bring himself to stop the creation of the Daleks there's no way he'll kill a child just because he grows up to become Davros. Also, the existence of the Daleks must by now be a fixed point in time that can't be prevented. Finally, in all those stories about time travellers trying to kill Hitler as a child there's always some snag where they either succeed but their success is a failure, or they discover Hitler is a necessary evil to preserve the timeline. I really don't see what new ground this is going to cover, other than perhaps meeting Davros's parents, best friend, and teacher he kind of had a crush on.

Well funny thing is, there is a wee documentary on the season 8 blu ray box set with Peter Davidson, and during it Nicholas Briggs takes him into a locked props room, and the first thing he touches is something under a tarpolin sheet that looks like Davors chair, and he say something along the line of "oh that's a secret, not yet".

Make of that what you will.

According to Capaldi those publicity photos do depict a battlefield where he "tries to help a victim of war but it backfires."

So is saving Davros before he winds up in the chair the catastrophe he previously mentioned?

^ I wonder if he accidently saves Davros? Comes across a wounded person who turns out to be Davros?

Wouldn't be the first time the Doctor has been someplace unexpected and done something he finds he shouldn't have done.

Looked a lot like a Dalek city in the trailer.

Edit: And then I spotted the Original Series Dalek...

That could be interesting but I'm still not 100% sold on it (but it's better than the rumored child storyline).

Doesn't help any that I absolutely love Big Finish's I, Davros mini-series that thoroughly covers Davros' origins in the style of (as the title implies) I, Claudius. Of course, the show isn't required to stay in line with what Big Finish has done.

Davros loves Mel Bush.

Possibly more like a daughter than a lover, but don't let the wheel chair fool you.

He loves her.

Well, as much as a monster can love, but he's definitely sweet on her.

(I'm referencing an old Big Finish audio story.)

Yeah, the city seen in the trailer closely resembles the exterior Skaro city seen in "The Daleks", although up to more modern FX standards (and in color).

The brief glimpse of the classic Dalek also seems to be silver, like the 60's Daleks (and used one last time in Death to the Daleks).

Maybe the two-faced guy sitting with cards and drinks is on Skaro as well, a "Muto" perhaps.

How old is Davros?

He can nap for thousands of years.

That's probably because of the chair, but if their natural lifespan is still thousands of years, its a question of how well the war is going when he was crippled, if the war had even started before his "accident" and if mutancy is totally due to the cursed ecology born from a thousand years worth of war using terrible weapons, or if evolution was also something else that was happening anyway regardless.
