Is CATSPAW the worst episode of S2?

I wouldnt actually say its the worst episode, but its the very first Halloween episode that the series had, I think the worst episode was Who Mourns for Adonais? now that was the worst episode of season 2

Hi This is my first post!

I can't believe some people think Gamesters Of Triskelion is among the worst episodes. It's in my top 5! Well, to each their own!

I guess it just appeals to that bizarre nature I love about Star Trek.I feel like the whole episode had such a classic trek "where the hell are we" feel to it.

I guess when I was younger I always read too much into Captain Kirk's line "If we're even in the same dimension.." (or something to that effect)

I still think Galt is one of the the creepiest characters I've seen in any Trek.Imagine him just appearing in your bedroom in the middle of the night to take you away to be a slave for your entire existence. He's just an all around creep, with his weird skin, glowing eyes, and creepy cloak. That actor was excellent! He's one of my favorite villians of TOS. (But I have some weird tastes I guess, I also adore Balok from "The corbomite maneuver")

Gamesters also has some great sets and color schemes. Not to mention humor with Chekov and the orange he-she. That is one of the all time funniest trek scenes!

And Last, but definitely not least Shahna was one hot alien babe!

I loved Catspaw. I thought it was great fun. I'm not even going to try to nail down a least fave or even a favorite (except to mention Tribbles...).

"Omega Glory" was great right up until the last few minutes. The whole thing goes to shit as soon as they get the American Flag and the Constitution.. the Exact American flag and Constitution. It went from credibility to dumb-ass camp right at the moment, and everyone involved with the production knew it. (Look at how that acting and direction changes at that moment)

I want to agree with CoveTom about this. Long ago, when I originally saw it (early 70s), that didn't strike me weird, but touching. NOW it seems silly to me, and it should have been explained (perhaps by saying it was a United Nations colony long ago).

I am beginning to gather that every episode has its fans!

by the way I actually saw catspaw only very recently.

I thought it definitely had some redeeming qualities, but overall probably ranks near the bottom, but not quite at the bottom.

I love the humor in this episode though. and the two puppets at the end were really awesome!

Yes I think Catspaw is one of the weakest shows of the year if not of the whole show. It's not that it is bad per se but even as a kid the close up of the black cat wasn't going to scare anyone. Having said that I don't mind it as it has its charms.

As for the others mentioned, I've always like Gamesters. The world would be a worse place if the word Quatloo had never come about. The Apple has always been one of my favourates as has Immunity Syndrome. For me Return To Tomorrow is the worst of the season. It feels like a bad third season episode.

Even before I knew its original air date (October 27, 1967) I always thought it was a Halloween episode, and take it as such, I wouldn't say it was the worst episode of season 2.
My choices are a toss up between The Immunity Syndrome (Giant space Amoeba) and The Omega Glory (its possible of a parallel Earth but the title just sucks...
just my 2¢

I'm shocked over the love Catspaw is getting here, it is definitely my least favorite episode of season 2 along with Assignment: Earth.

I am also shocked at how much hate The Apple is getting, which IMO is one of the best episodes of season 2.

I'm probably alone in this, but my least favorite episode of season two is "The Omega Glory". It has a great set-up and first three acts, but the last twelve minutes send it straight into the crapper. Other than the presence of Captain Tracey, and a quick beavershot (which we've discussed in depth), It's a real disappointment.

Captain Tracey is an absolutely terrific adversary for Kirk. He not only whips Kirk in a fight, but smiles at him while doing it!

Whoa, whoa, whoa!!

A beaver-shot?! Where?

What have I missed all these years?

In the scene where Kirk and Cloud William are fighting in the jail cell. Spock nerve-pinches the comely wench, and as she falls...well, just have your finger on the "pause" button and you'll see.

In retrospect, after you watch Catspaw--it is totally pointless nonsense. But, it is/was fun the first couple of times. Other episodes like 'Alternative Factor' are crap every time you watch it, first time or 20th time.

There is NO beaver shot-----just her leather thong/outfit bottom bunching up 'down there.'

I have watched the shot on Blu-ray on a big HDTV with the 8x Zoom and you can see it's not her skin--it's her outfit.

But some folks will swear it is and proof won't convince them.

"Catspaw"- like much of season two- is no great artistic achievement, but it is fun enough. I actually think "Obsession" might be my least favorite episode from that season.

Prove it.

I've never seen it, and believe me, I've tried. Maybe I just didn't pause on the exact frame? I just checked Trekcore. They don't have the BD screencaps yet for Omega Glory. The DVD screencaps only show her after she's fallen. I'd love to see proof either way, too.
