Is Amy even "real?" Possible Spoilers

Defiant

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
I hate the fact that we're apparently two episodes behind here, but I figure I'll risk spoiling to talk about this here:

The Doctor, as we have established is an old soul "who can't bear to hear children crying because he's so kind."

And he "accidentally" crashes by a crack in space - which justy happend to have a sad, lonely child sitting right by it, so he stops to help.

Now, in the long version of the first ep, which played last week (sadly, cut from the reduced repeat), Prisoner 0 said something about "Don't you know who created it?" and started chanting "The Doctor doesn't know!"

The crack continues to appear where the Doctor goes with Amy.

We never see Amy's Aunt (or at least not yet, which is a far cry from any of the previous companions, who's familes have featued prominantly).

Amy says she "doesn't have" a mom and a dad (not that they died, but that she doesn't have them). She only has the mysterious Aunt who brought her to England.

The Doctor jumped through time for a couple of minutes, and each time, Amy had grown up years.

Now, obviously, the rest of the town (and even Prisoner 0)knew Amy, and had seen her grow up, but there's still odd stuff like "What's that?" "A duck pond." "Where are the ducks?" "There aren't any!" "Then how do you know it's a duck pond?" "I don't know! It just is!" I'd write this off as meaningless, except of all the things they cut from the first ep, this "meaningless" bit wasn't cut - and the Doctor really seemed disturbed about it.

And then when Amy walked near the monitor on the TARDIS, it started humming and displaying a vibrational signal, which the Doctor tried to keep her from seeing. A spooky note played in the background music, and the Doctor quickly switched off the monitor - the same spooky note played again.

I can't help but wonder if Amy is some sort of "trap" set by someone (the Daleks, maybe?) to bring the Doctor through (or make him open) the crack? Maybe she's not even real?

Then there's the bit I've seen a clip of ... Amy doesn't remember the Daleks. Or anything from Journey's End. That's ... unusual.

But in tonight's episode (two weeks ago for the UK), the computer on the UK starship recognized her, so there's at least some record of her.

So, I dunno.

There is definitely more to her than meets the eye, and I'm hoping for something very left field!

This idea has been batted around since the season began and at first I didn't put much stock into it. However, the more I read and watch I have to admit it that it's a very real and frightening possibility. Now, I know I read somewhere that the actress only signed on for one season so maybe that means something.

Also, unlike previous seasons where the clues for Bad Wolf, Rose, Torchwood were sort of hidden the cracks in series five aren't being hidden in anyway. In fact our attention is being drawn to the cracks very intentionally so what if the cracks are just a side story or mis-direction because Amy is the actual through line for the season.

Honestly, I'm starting to get an uneasy feeling about Amy and the sooner the other shoe drops the better because this making me a little too nervous.;)

There's also the matter of Leadworth being a fictional town (although I might be just leaning into that more than I should). Perhaps Amy is somekind of product or construct resulting from the spatial crack? There is definitely something weird going on with her.

Doctor Who Magazine has confirmed that Karen is back for another season. I've begun to entertain the possibility that in the sixth season she may not be the Amy Pond we've seen to date.

I've been checking for anagrams of Ameilia Pond, Amy Pond, Little Amelia Pond, Ameila Jessica Pond, Leadworth, etc, as I know how much Doctor Who loves Anagrams. Wilfred Mott, indeed...

So far, some entertaining things, but nothing sinister...

Something about "Fairy Tales" and Leadworth - I keep thinking all of Leadworth fell out of the crack. Or it was invented by someone to keep dragging the Doctor in. I don't think Amy is "in" on it, but kind of a victim of it all...

It looked to me like the Doctor didn't even notice the crack. He just seemed to think the screen was acting up and gave it a little tap to fix it.

As for Amy being fictional, I really like the idea. But it seems like it would be a bit cruel to the character, by revealing that her entire life has been a lie.

It could just be that the perception filter in the house affected her in a much deeper way than the Doctor thought.

Amy: Why me?
Doctor: Why not?
Amy: No, seriously. You are asking me to run away with you in the middle of the night. It's a fair question. Why me?
Doctor: Dunno. Fun. Do I have to have a reason?
Amy: People always have a reason.
Doctor: Do I look like "people?"
Amy: Yes!
Doctor: Been knocking around on my own for a bit for a while. My choice. But I've started talking to myself all the time. It's giving me earache.
Amy: You're lonely. That's it. Just that.
Doctor: Just that.

(The monitor shows the crack. The music goes ominous.)

Doctor: Promise.
Amy: Okay.

(The second Amy turns away, the Doctor glances over and turns off the monitor.)

Okay, if someone says, "Promise" on a TV show, they are either lying or will be proven wrong. It's about as fundamental as, "If there's no body, the death was faked."

The Doctor knows the crack was on the monitor. He knows Amy has something to do with it, and he's keeping her close because of it.

Leadworth = "Dr Who tale" or "Late Dr Who"

Amelia Jessica Pond = "no maid escapes jail"

However, this requires the American spelling of gaol.

Maybe in hindsight he realized he saw something, and is keeping her close for that reason. But that's certainly not how the scene was played at the time. He just thought it was a bit odd, is all.

Besides, why would he have any reason to think that the crack WAS following them around? He'd be looking for signs of the crack everywhere they went now, and clearly he hasn't been.

Can't believe I didn't see Dr Who Tale - especially after all the Fairy Tale talk....

I saw the variations of escape jail - but didn't catch "no maid" (awesome in light of her pending nuptuals).

So, Leadworth is a prison cell - or a menagerie for either the offspring of lifelong prisoners, or prisoners who are not allowed to remember who they are - and are kept in some sort of benign existence. It "fell through" the crack, but Amy is tied to it, and the crack follows her wherever she goes.

The Doctor is somehow linked to Amy, understands in some way what has happened, and wants to help her.

Oh - I also just caught Amy's "I never could resist a keep out sign." She easily picked a lock, as if she does that a lot.

Even when she said "But I don't even remember doing it," I couldn't help but wonder if that was foreshadowing....

And why didn't the house change AT ALL in 12 years?

what is the Anagram of Wilfred Mott?

Time Lord FTW.

A bit of a stretch, since FTW is internet-speak for "for the win," an expression of congratulation and triumph.
