Is $100 a good price for the series?

Greetings,

I am being offered all three seasons of the Original Series for $100.

They are the unenhanced versions, but those are the ones I want to own.

Is this a good price? It seems so, looking around on Amazon and Ebay.

Tell me! :klingon:

I think so. Generally a season of any tv show goes for about $40-$50, so you'd normally be looking at $120-$150. Assuming they are good quality I'd say go for it! (Oh, I'm talking in Aussie dollars here.)

That works out to $33 a season, which is on par with what every other TV series season box set goes for.

Personal opinion - anything over $40 a season is too much no matter how popular the show is/was, and even then, at $40, it better be a full 20+ episodes, not these 6 or 13 episode mini-seasons that have cropped up over the past few years.

Unless you're buying in New Zealand where the average consumer pays through the nose to tight-fisted arsehole wholesalers...

I paid an average of $45 per season of TOS' 3. $135- rather steep IMO, but for the remastered eps I *NEEDED* to get, I'm not unsatisfied.:techman:

Makes ya appreciate Warner Home Video and their perennial season set sales, enabling one to get seasons of Babylon 5, Buffy, Angel, Smallville, etc., for only twenty bucks.

A few years ago season 1 (non-remastered) was just over $100 Canadian ( which would've been about close to $90 US)...so I say get it!!

Yes, that is quite good, but if you have Blu-ray you may want to hold off a few weeks to see what the complete 3 season set actually goes for vice what it being advertised at.

Greetings,

I just picked it up. I have a bag full of Trek at my office now and I need to stash it until Christmas.

I got the complete DS9 series too.

I do not have HD, Blue Ray, etc. We have rabbit ears and a tube television. We watch DVDs on our PS2.

I am a Luddite Trek watcher. I know. What gives?

Thank you for all of your input!

Considering that they originally sold for $100.00 apiece, you are definately getting a deal.

I'm not up on the $ to £ rates are but from here it looks a decent deal and no matter what you watch them on just enjoy!:bolian:

I just got Seasons 1 & 2 on blu-ray for $57 each and Season 3 for $52 at Amazon. It's their Black Friday sale: 55% off.

One and two arrived today; three is coming in December.
