Iron Man in IMAX Edit

EDIT - Well, I see where I went wrong here now. What I was talking about was the opening of the movie (which I came into the IMAX screening a couple minutes late - I came in when Tony was skipping his award ceremony). I haven't seen the movie in so long that I thought it was shown during the Jericho test, not as the intro to the movie. MY BAD!

First let me say that it's been a LOOOOOOONG time since I posted anything on the forum so hopefully this goes smoothly...

But the point of the topic is that I went to see the first Iron Man in IMAX on Tuesday during this 10th anniversary MCU event. I'm not sure if it was edited in other ways, but the scene where Tony Stark is kidnapped was heavily chopped up! I linked below the scene I'm talking about. The only part of that video that is in the current IMAX release of Iron Man is the external shot of the Humvee exploding. The conversation with Rhodes about it being the FUNvee happens and then it shows driving and an explosion. The next thing it shows after the explosion is a couple of cuts that makes it look like he's on a surgery table and then he wakes up in the cave with Yinsen. The title card wasn't even in it!

SO the entire "No gang signs" scene, the one from every trailer, was missing and these edits were GLARING and jumpy. I couldn't tell of any other cuts that were made but this was jarringly evident. Does anyone know why they cut that scene for the IMAX rerelease? Was it cut from some of the other marathon-style events they have before a new Marvel movie comes out or was it just this IMAX cut?

The IMAX format limits movies to a certain running length, doesn't it? I remember reading something about that, but can't recall the details. This could definitely result in some unfortunate editing choices. I thought the length had increased in recent years, though.

Now that almost all of IMAX theaters are just IMAX digital, the whole allure of the format is heavily decreased. A digital Imax theater just uses a 4k projector (same resolution as any other theater). The audio format is a little different, but additional subwoofers in the back of the theater but... meh.
