I'm pretty sure I've noticed this to a degree since I first got the phone but I'm not certain if it's worse. Speaker sound that is higher pitched and when the volume is turned to high especially seems to give that very brassy resonance to it. Perhaps it's just the phone, but given that my last 2 "regular" cell phones had much better sound output, I would have thought the iPhone to have higher standards.
My biggest concern is that this may be due to water damage. When I was applying a screen protector, I had to use water and apply the protector over top. I was careful but there must have been some water that crept inside the main button because when I first turned it on after, the sound was very soft. I left it off for a while and the sound improved but had an even worse metallic/brassy/tinny quality to it. This later improved and I'm left now where I am. My external water sensors don't show any damage so I'm thinking that Apple will replace it but I wanted to know if this sounds like it's worse than it's supposed to be.
Do all iPhone 4's sound a bit brassy from the speaker or is it just mine?
