Intrepid "Where There's A Sea" release date announced

Less than half an hour now! :scream:

Is it me or is time too slow?

Edit - I'VE GOT IT :D Once again - super job from the guys at Intrepid ;) Keep 'em coming!!!

Absolutely first rate. I really enjoyed it.

I particularly liked the design and the use of sets, and you guys have by far the best 24th century uniforms outside of Paramount studios.

What I really admire, though, as I did with your first episode, is the dialogue and the natural way the characters speak to one another. There's a conversational ease between the actors that I know can be really difficult to achieve.

Congratulations.

Nick, you and all of your crew have done it again! You've managed to come up with a plausable scenario for tensions within Star Trek universe where good people are butting heads over substantive issues. I like the way you've framed it without forcing it.

The only nit I would pick is that the audio at times could be a bit clearer. The voices during the cargo bay shootout are definitely a bit off mic.

Overall, the acting and story are again top notch!

I'll get a longer review written after the new Excelsior script is done (who knew murder mysteries were so difficult?), but the one word review is just: Wow.

I wish Voyager had been a lot more like those twelve minutes. And I like Voyager.

The VO at the beginning was rather scratchy-sounding. Sound quality improved later, thankfully, but it does have me wondering. Of all the things to have sound problems with, I'd think a voice-over would be the easiest to get right.

Downloaded it yesterday, and finally got to watch it.

Technical comments:

1) As previously mentioned, there were audio issues in the cargo bay sequence. If your camera has a microphone input, an American company named Beachtek makes an adapter that allows you to use commercial XLR plug mikes (as long as they don't need phantom power). In the US, it sells in the £50 range. This would let you get a standard boom mike at a reasonable price, and that would make an incredible difference in quality.

2) The Ayakazi-class ship doesn't stand up to scrutiny quite as well as your Intrepid and other ships. The mesh seems to be acceptable, but perhaps you could look at your texturing. It practically glowed in some scenes. As a side note- when I import 3D Studio models into Lightwave, I sometimes find that the textures have luminosity- in short they do glow. It might be worth looking into...

3) I love that Intrepid uses so many practical sets. Even if it's only something as simple as leaning on a door frame, the fact that characters interact with their environments is a big plus.

As for the story, I hope that things eventually develop into an "us versus them" situation, where the crew of Intrepid and the colonists come to realize they are going to have to rely on each other, because both sides are being jerked around by their superiors. I'm not expecting a great moment of epiphany here, but rather the kind of grudging respect that developed between the crew of Voyager and their Maquis shipmates.

Another excellent production. Thank you.

It is a good episode, and I will add it to my Star Trek Channel on my WMP.

I wonder has anyone put it on Vuse or Veoh yet?

Thanks for the feedback so far, I'm glad folks seem to be enjoying it so far.

Funnily enough, I bought one of those after we shot the cargobay scene. We're still getting used to sound, and I'll admit not doing a great job on it. However, we used the beachtek and a rode shotgun for the bridge scenes. I think there is a fairly noticeable difference in those scenes.

When I first bought the Beachetek adapter, I neglected to switch it to mono, so we ended up getting single channel audio. Talk about a Homer moment. :)

Anyway, good advice, thanks. :)

I saw it on either saturday or sunday and have been meaning to leave my 2 cents worth.
I thought it was pretty good. The continuation of the ongoing rift b/w Starfleet and the Merchant Marines seems to just be growing. I can't wait to see what happens next w/ the longer episode. Great job overall through.

I tried to watch it online but dial-up makes it nearly impossible. I did see about a minute or so which was good. One thing I noticed was the great acting. BTW, were those real sets you used in some scenes? I'll have to download the really, really low res versions of your next productions.

Quite good sets. The FX were also great. I hope to download the whole episode soon. When's the next episode coming out?

Thanks. :)

Next up is Transitions and Lamentations, which will be out later this year. No set release date yet I'm afraid.
