LOL, LMAO, and stuff I get. But what the hell is o.O or ^^ supposed to mean?

^^ is a japanese smiley apparently. It portrays the eyes. People smiling by closing their eyes with that form in Anime has always confused me.

O.o is just one eye wide open because you're oh so shocked.

o.O is like raising your eyebrow--one eye is bigger than the other. o_O and other variations exist. Think of it as similar to .

^^ is a happy face. Look at it this way: ^_^ or ^.^ or even =<^_^>= which is a kitty cat.

Doesn't that look happy?

I usually see that one done this way:

I usually use only one ^ for that, if I don't quote the post. Two is for two posts before mine. Beyond that, I use the quote feature.

XD is one of my favourites, that also comes from anime expressions. I still seem to pronounce it as X.D. in my head when thinking of it! The same goes for o.O, I just think oh, Ohhh.

I always associate XD or xD with Eric Cartman for some reason. Probably because it looks vaguely like the South Park LOL.
