I've noticed ^^ on this board can also be used to convey that you're responding to the post directly before yours. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

XD is one of my favourites, that also comes from anime expressions. I still seem to pronounce it as X.D. in my head when thinking of it! The same goes for o.O, I just think oh, Ohhh.
