Enjoyed this one. It's interesting how the cartoon when made for the US audiences toned down a lot of the things that in Japan nobody would have bat an eyelid over, and yes that's the fan service and it's understandable because of cultural differences, what would be acceptable in Japan would not fly anywhere else outside Japan. I like that for the most part both shows were the same yet different.

i'm one of those kids in the 70s & 80's that watched this, Battle of the Planets and Robotech.

I will have to watch this later due to a busy weekend, but definitely know now the difference between what i saw then, and what it was REALLY based on.... i would love to tell this current generation how hard it was to get anime (then called Japanimation) to us, and not able to get a united fan base they way they can now

I just wish these current generations could watch and appreciate what we enjoyed. I know they would prefer the original Japanese cuts... but those shows were awesome back in the day....and definitely for Star Blazers, i made a Lego Argo...back when we had to create stuff form scratch, and did NOT have pr-emade sets like these spoiled kids nowadays ;)

Well there were a few kits but not as many as available now.

And nice to know I wasn't the only one who built a Lego version of the Argo.

Maybe it's because of living in the Pacific Northwest close to Asia and with a large Asian population, but out local hobby stores had rows of Star Blazers, Robotech and various other model kits from Japan on the shelves almost as soon as Star Blazers began airing.
I had a complete collection of Bandai's small scale and full scale models of Star Blazers.
I had the Season Three Bolar Wars models before that season made it to our television screens.
