Insulting Comments

^Actually, Mr. Thomas Crapper didn't invent the water closet, he was merely a very successful manufacturer of them (to the point of having other people doing the actual manufacturing and then selling them under his name (always put on the device in a highly visible way).

(Partly Wikipedia and partly Qi-knowledge here!)
Thanks for additional info Trekkiedane. I wonder who did invent the old gravity toilets with gravity flush tanks? I shall return to the very learned Mr or Ms Google..

As I parenthetically mentioned, the info was just off the top of my head, but this little video is actually quite interrresting and right on the pot:

Well, that was interesting! I now know a bit more about the history of toilets. One thing they didn't cover was where the word Loo comes from. When the English threw their potty contents onto the road in the morning, it was generally followed by "Guardez L'eau" (watch out for water) from the thrower. Their accents were so bad that l'eau was pronounced as "Loo" and it stuck from there.
