Something tells me we will see Trek games being release on a regular basis about once every year or so. Stay tune.

Let's hope that this Mr Something is right! :(

Re: Information on Star Trek Computer Games in her

Just a heads up about the link i posted, its no longer the Star Trek Clan Directory.

At the beginning of this year the clan directory, mod directory and the games directory merged to form this place...

http://www.trek-gamers.com

1 site, covering all 3 aspects of trek gaming...its also a major headache to run, but there we go :)

Hello Everyone,

I am new here. I have been a Trekkie for years and I have just discovered this site. I have the "Hidden Evil" game and I love it. I'm completely obsessed with it. Dreams about it and everything. Quite pathetic.

I am wondering what everyone thinks of that game (any hints?) and the other games, if they are worth investing in.

I am looking forward to having some fun here.

Greetings Anij!

Before someone else posts here, however, I would suggest starting a new thread in this forum to discuss Hidden Evil as well as game recommendations from the members. This is just to keep this thread uncluttered. You may also search the forum for past game recommendation threads as well.

Thanks,
DOSMAN

Good websites, lots of information. However the Geocities website is out of date.

Re: Information on Star Trek Computer Games in her

I want a S3 XINDI ENT GAME.

Yeah, a few of the earlier links are bad, but only daedalus5 could possibly change them. In fact, TrekPulse Gaming has been "gaming.trekpulse.com" for several months now, but, fortunately, the old URL is still redirected.

BTW, this thread just had its first anniversary six days ago!

Hi,

This is the first time I have used this site to post a question. I am having a sound problem with judgment rites using windows ME. I have gotten 25th anniversary and a final unity to work ok. I can get the game to run but then after the voices start, the sound goes silent. If I quit the game and restart the sound comes back. But then after the sound comes back I get a blue screen that says windows and the following message( ERROR :06 :0028 : 0000000B). Then it says to restart the computer or press any key. If I press any key I get the message(File Name:NTKERN(01) + 0000EEC Error : 0E :0028 : C002EFDC). Then if I push any key 2 or 3 more times it goes back to the game without sound. If I quit the game and try and load again there still is not any sound. I have to restart the computer to get the sound to work. It will work for a minute then does it all again. I tried putting in 25th anniversry after the blue screen and it did not have any sound either. But when I started 25th anniversary normally it worked fine. I would really appreciate any help. Thanks.

Your operating system may be the problem here. Windows ME IIRC was a terribly scaled-down "light" version of Windows 98 - a stop-gap on the way towards XP. Many drivers were either not included or not compatable with the OS and I've heard nothing but bad things about ME (second only to Microsoft Bob in the digital abortion category) which forced many people to go back to 98 or upgrade to Windows 2000. You may want to consider upgrading your OS to something a little more mainstream. You may find a number of other problems you've experienced and haven't mentioned here disappear.

Or, you could get a Mac. :D Sorry...had to do it...

Thnaks for the quick response. The other two games work fine, so I guess I will either update my windows version or play the game without sound. What would be the best upgade or downgrade to get the DOS games to run better? Thanks again.

Both XP and 2003 have this new feature that allows you to alter how the operating system runs applications. As you are probably not going to be doing much server work, 2003 would be swatting a fly with a sledge-hammer. You probably would want to upgrade to XP (even though, as I understand it, 2003 is more robust and reliable). Here's how you make older games work:

  • Go into the directory which contains the app you're trying to run
  • Right-click on the executable and select "Properties"
  • The usual Properties diaglog box will appear, but with a critical addition. Click on the tab labeled "Compatibility"
  • Check the box inside the section entitled "Compatibility Mode". If you're running XP, you will then get a list of available modes you can run your app in:

    - Windows 95
    - Windows 98 / Windows ME
    - Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5)
    - Windows 2000
    - If you're running Windows 2003, you get an additional "Windows XP" setting in the dropdown list
You can also change the screen resolution to 640x480 fixed size with 256 colors to avoid any palette problems if you prefer. If you want to run DOS games, the Windows 95 setting is likely to be your best bet.

Good luck and tell me how it works. :)

Thanks again.

I won't be able to try it for a while, but I will as soon as I can. This site is great.

Please try to keep game discussions in separate threads in order to avoid avoid filling up this one. Thanks!

Sorry 'bout that...I get carried away sometimes when I discuss computer configurations as there can be a lot to talk about depending on the subject-matter.

I love buying some older Star Trek games second hand. But sometimes there are some real tricks, I had to use to get them play. But it's worth it.

Thanks for the links! I finally was able to get Final Unity to run but the sound is a mess :( Any suggestions to make it sound less garbled?
