Indiana Jones Quadrilogy to get the 3-D treatment + re-released!!!

Ok, I went through the first 3 pages of both fourms and was surprised to not see this posted. Maybe Hobbit talk has some distracted. Since the series is about God, gods and aliens I put it here Mods. Hope that flies.

All 4 Indiana Jones movies are to be converted over to 3-D as well. Plus they are likely to see a re-release, theatrically I presume cause I can't think of another way to interpret that.

...all four films in the "Indiana Jones" saga will undergo the same[3-D] treatment.
Little is known at present, though an official announcement is expected sometime next month. Lucasfilm understandably hasn't confirmed the report.
The good news is that the films will likely be re-released in order.

This is great I haven't seen Doom or Crusade in theaters since I first saw them. I only got to see Raiders on the big screen cause we have a retro theater that gets older print on occassion and has limited runs. With Skull being the newest I'd guess its conversion will be best. That ending sequence with the saucer is likely to look good and hey that fridge will look like its coming right for you!!!

I agree with Judge Reinhold.

But I will only see them(first two at least)if they play in 2D.

I've managed to see prints of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM, but so far the third film has eluded me. Of course, since these are going to be 3D digital projections, I doubt I'll make the effort.

I just wish Lucasfilm would give the series a proper theatrical re-release without any tinkering.

You know, I haven't seen anything in 3D and I'm already tired of it. By time all these films get converted and put out, I suspect the next dang thing will be on the horizon anyway. While its nice to see things in theaters, this is definately for the money making gimmick not for the love of the movie. How about Romancing the Stone and Jewel of the Nile in 3D! Lawrence of Arabia! Ghandi! The Godfather! I know, I know! Casablanca! <rolls>

Agreed. I'm looking forward to the Raiders of the Lost Ark Special Edition, where instead of pulling out his revolver and shooting the swordsman first, Indy pulls out a walkie-talkie.

Would be nice at least to get a blu-ray release. If I remember correctly, Indiana Jones was released before the Star Wars OT on DVD. Now it seems like the other way around (Although Crystal Skull is on blu-ray).

Not sure how Indiana Jones would translate to 3D. The original Indiana Jones trilogy isn't really that FX heavy when you think about it-it was more stunt work, like the James Bond films.

I think it's exceptional movie studios and marketing execs have managed to migrate a new nonce word into the venacular, e.g. Indiana Jones "Quadrilogy" - so much more interesting than tetralogy don't you think? Back To The Future Tetralogy Box Set just doesn't work.

They probably think the audience can't tell the difference between Trilogy and Tetralogy.

I hate Hollywood introducing these new non-words into use among the general public... "Reimagining" also sets my teeth grinding.

LOL, yes, Re-imagining is a classic! I just realised, I actually meant to put Alien Tetralogy Box Set, not BTTF - since there's only three Marty & Doc movies, DOH! I'm getting confused as I purchased both Blu-ray sets this week.

Agreed.

Don't even get me started on 3D television sets. I heard a report, which may or may not be true, that they have sold enough 3D sets to justify calling the tech a success.

To whom? Does anybody out there actually own a 3D tv???

I think seeing that giant boulder coming at me in Raiders in 3D would be cool, but other than that I would just like to see Indy in theaters again.
