Independence Day - Resurgence

Sounds like I better not watch it. I hate trailers that give away the entire movie. I don't want to know the three act structure going in.

It's not giving away the entire movie. I'm pretty sure almost nothing beyond the first alien attack has been shown. Having said that, the trailers have probably covered the first half of the movie. Nothing shown so far has given me a clue how humans are fighting back or how the attack would end.
I think if anything, it just gives a bit more context to what we've seen in the other trailers.

Yeah, I asked about this, and was told it wasn't getting a rerelease.

If you asked the BBC they wouldn't be allowed to. It was made by audio movies ltd, in conjunction with 20th Century Fox. Getting permission to rebroadcast it wouldn't be easy. It was released on polygram (which became UMG which became Vivendi). I don't think youtube has the full hour, and it doesn't seem possible to buy it any more even if you had a tape player.

I didn't check to see if it was all available on youtube (wasn't sure how long it was). I know they had a couple of parts, but they were only about 7 minutes each.

If you do have a tape player, it does look like Amazon Uk has three copies of it - from nearly £90 at the moment for the cheapest to £240. They're all shipped from the US (though like I say, on the UK Site)

The ESD has released a new video debunking the popular War of 1996 conspiracy theory that says that their director, David Levinson and actor Jeff Goldblum are the same person.

They've also released a series of 20 second videos of significant figures from the War of 1996 discussing how things have changed in the last 20 years.

Interesting. In the Patricia Whitmore video, she says three billion people died during the first attack in 1996. That's even more than I would have expected.

So great to see Spiner back, cinema fans have been deprived of his talent for far too long. Dr. Okun is like Data with his emotion chip in. Too bad they didn't let him contribute anything storywise, he did such a great job on Nemesis.

All of our inner Spiner-femmes will be happy to catch a "Brent break" once again.

Three billion does seem rather excessive. I wonder if anyone's actual calculated the potential death toll based on the data in the movie.

Even if the aliens didn't directly kill that many people, the effects of having all those major cities with their industries wiped out, plus the disruption in the food distribution network, would cause many more to die before society would be able to recover.
