^ The aliens from ID4 can't come back. That was their entire civilization on that ship. When it went, so did they.
^ Hmm makes you look at the ending of that movie a bit differently.
possible I suppose, still not sure why the movie needs the 4, was Independance Day ever written like that, before the movie came out.^July 4th, I assume. It's patriotic!

My understanding is that the sequel premises hold that there was an even larger mother-mothership behind the one we blew up, and that was an advance force to soften us up for the eventual occupation.

and behind that ship was a BIGGER ship, and behind THAT ship was the Death Star...there are a number of theories as to the depth and scope of what was going on in the ID-4 verse, and it's all rubbish, ID-4 was just a summer blockbuster with no extra thought put behind it, the aliens were 2 dimensional and generic, and the human actors portrayed just about every movie hero stereotype imaginable, if this was to be some massive, well thought-out space opera we'd be up to the 5th sequel by now, it isn't like the movie didn't make metric fcuktons of money and warrant a sequel if that was the case
