Karen Allenby, ‘Kazza’ to her family and friends, arrived home, at her staff apartment on the grounds of UNV, from a gruelling day of work and studies at the university. The day had been long and she was ready to rest. “Computer: Relaxation,” she said, instructing the computer to play her playlist of relaxing Early Classical Music.
“Affirmative,” the computer said with a snarky undertone.
Kazza relaxed as she put her materials away.
Half an hour later Kazza’s relaxation was interrupted by a message “Incoming request for vocal communication,” the computer said.
“Put it through,” Kazza said with a sigh, as she put the book that she was reading down.
“Kazza, are you there?” came the voice of her friend, Delaf Oliva.
“I’m here, Oli,” Kazza said.
“I need your help,” Oli said, her voice showing considerable stress.
Kazza put the book aside. “I’ll be right there,” she said. ‘It never rains, but it pours,’ she said.
Kazza arrived at her friend’s apartment 10 minutes later. Oli answered the door. “Quickly, Kazza,” she said as she grabbed Kazza and pulled her inside.
Kazza immediately saw the Starfleet Intelligence officer in Oli’s lounge room. She knew that Section 31 was up to yet another plan involving New Victoria.
“Welcome, Kazza,” he said.
“What are they up to now? But first, why here?” Kazza asked.
“We need Ms. Delaf’s help in this too,” the officer said.
“Continue,” Kazza said.
The SI agent inserted an isolinear data rod into the reader next to the viewscreen.
