In Star Trek, is bald...better?

I will agree with noKnowes, only in that society often does look down upon bald men as not appearing as the "textbook perfect" male supermodels that society somehow dictates they should look. However, the same can be said about overweight people, short people, overly tall people, different ethnicities, etc. If that is truly a perspective of today's society, then I find it apt tht Star Trek could take the stand that in the future, people will not be so infantile to find that such a trivial matter as looks will make any real difference.
If you feel that bald people are inferior, or grotesque looking, (or any other group not included in "the beautiful people" - which, by the way is the majority of people on the planet) then I dol feel sorry for you. You're missing out on some of the most outstanding people in the world.
As for the majority of bald men selling their mothers and children for a genuine cure for baldness, personally I find the value of my family, friends, health, career, etc. far exceeding that of some hair growth. I personally don't want a full head of hair. Or more accurately, I'm appathetic. In no way would a full head of hair make my life any better. I would still have the same wonderful wife, children, job, home, etc. as I do now. If there are any bald men who disagree, please, let me know.
In this case, Noknowes, I find your moniker an appropriate one.

Speaking as a bald man, I say, HELL YES! BALD IS BETTER!!!!

Me too, and I'm not even all that bald, just getting there (quite against my will, but still.....).

I think most of the people who argue against baldness are mostly kids under 18 who are still locked into superficial shit like looks, and don't know any better

Baldies are thought of by society as being inferior and faulty. They cannot compete against people with hair.Image is everything nowadays.Without image you are a has been or yesterdays history.

When a women goes bald due to cancer/chemo and reveals her baldy head people are shocked and horrified. It is even worse when she appears on tv which is why I change channels quickly when Gayle Porter appears.

It is a very disturbing and horrific sight.Like a horror film.

So unnatural.

Baldies fight against baldness by pretending baldies are cool but deep down in their hearts they ALL want a full head of hair.

My witness is the multibillion $$$ wig and worthless hair restorer creams/lotions.

Did you know that pubic hair is transplanted to the head as a hair transplant?

If a women were to run her fingers through such pubic hair transplanted hair man she would be really running her fingers through his pubes.

If a GENUINE hair cure was found I bet they would sell their mothers and kids to get their hands on it.

In Isaac Asimov's book The End of Eternity a bald character fights against his baldnerrs by fighting an entire society.

This shows the deep rooted psycho problems baldies suffer from.

So....what......you're saying that bald people are automatically psychos? If so, you are demonstrating that you judge by appearances only.

People with hair=good
Bald people=evil

This says more about you than it does about me.

I also suffer from cerebral palsy and need a wheelchair to get around in because I tire easily. Does this somehow make me a freak in your eyes?

I keep my hair cut very short and occasionally I used to shave it off. It was hot where I worked and it helped keep my cooler.

I quit shaving it when my wife said that the back of my shaved head looked like the crack of my butt!

Natural baldness is view by society as a sign of maturity and wisdom, only younger people may have an image issue with it and that's only until they start to loose hair of their own; wait to have hair on your chin before discrediting those loosing it on their skull. One choosing the bald as a style in that format is definitely very bold, thus badass.

When a women goes bald due to cancer/chemo and reveals her baldy head people are shocked and horrified.
The shock comes from an emotional response to the cancer itself, not the hairstyle. I is a bit awkward at first glance especially in the 80's with Sinead O'Connor, for example, but that's something you can easily get use to. I prefer long strait hair on a woman but I'm certainly not horrified by a bald style and especially not if it is forced by a sickness.

If a GENUINE hair cure was found I bet they would sell their mothers and kids to get their hands on it.
They were working on a promising solution when they noticed a side effect of causing erections. Knowing this they completely dropped the hair related research and quickly marketed Viagra out of it. Trust me, there are some issues much more important to men than their hair...
