In Search of the Galileo...MYSTERY SOLVED!

I can build an extension... or put it on the roof.

Might trick it out with a high performance engine and some mag wheels and drive it around the neighbourhood...a couple of donuts in someone's back yard.. Already picked out a disco ball and black fuzzy dice. It will be great for grocery shopping and getting my gear to gigs.

Not one for restoring artifacts, are you?

C'mon CRA, you've been around the internet long enough. Don't you recognize sarcasm when you read it?

Oh, I recognize it, just as I recognize lame attempts at it.

In other news, I just got word from KathE Walker at Starland, and she is very interested in getting the Galileo. She's dealt with the Wings Over the Rockies museum (it appears that it was Starland that bought the X-Wing from Lucasfilm on the condition that it would be donated to the museum), AND she has a flatbed truck that can haul the Galileo back from Ohio.

I'd like to make a motion for joining forces with Alec's initiative for a non-profit for the restoration.

Do I have a second?

^I don't know what that means, but I'd happily toss in a meager PayPal donation.

Remind me when I start on building my General Lee.

By the way, if you check out "The Galileo Seven", "Metamorphosis", and "The Way To Eden", you can clearly see that there was, in fact, some details to the interior, including sets and probably a computer console or two; basically anything that would be visible with the doors open, so that might include the forward control console.

So, more items on the restoration shopping list...

By the way, howzabout this for a fund raising t-shirt design?

Remember, it's supposed to be a play on this:

Which means perspective views are out.

UPDATE:

I think I like this one better...

Hey, set it up so some proceeds from the t-shirt finance the restoration, and we can all buy one.

That's the nose, not the butt.

How it's used will all depend on this nonprofit whatchamacallit that's set up to fund the restoration. If it goes up on my shop, it'll mainly be so I can have one of my own for cheap (or, if they choose to go in a different direction, in which case, it becomes a companion design to my "This Old Starship" stuff).

By gum, you're right! I saw that center landing pad and my brain said "rear." Either way, end-on is a bit too static; the curve in the profile gives a bit more energy. But whatever. Peace.

Well, between "Bohemian Rhapsody" and the Indigo Girls' "Galileo", I can't think of any other songs that make reference to the old astronomer.

Anybody know of any more?

I thought I had remembered seeing a picture of the prop in somebody's back yard a few years ago. Perhaps I am going crazy (or senile).
I would be willing to by the prop, restore it, and put it on public display. How much do you want for it?

I've always loved the Galileo. I love it even more than the Enterprise. That's why I have used it as my Avatar. It was the first model I put together as a child. I have always dreamed of owning a Trek prop. I've always wanted a phaser II prop especially. Experiencing the screen-used Galileo prop in person would be one of the coolest things that ever happened in my life.

In any event, I think "This Old Shuttle" T-shirts w/ the view from the side is an OUTSTANDING idea! If you are not willing to sell it, I would sure be willing to buy a T-shirt to help provide funds to restore it.
