^ Supposedly, IRL Bakula is one of the nicest guys ever - his costars (like Gary Graham and Dean Stockwell) all rave about how nice he is. So, try as they may, nice people like that probably would have problems playing evil.
Am I the only one who thought Scott struggled a bit with Archer's being a nasty Man, in "A Mirror Darkly"? He's making angry faces and raising his voice, some, but... I'm not sure I'm really buying it.
As the poster above says, all the Mirror episodes are pretty hammy.Am I the only one who thought Scott struggled a bit with Archer's being a nasty Man, in "A Mirror Darkly"? He's making angry faces and raising his voice, some, but... I'm not sure I'm really buying it.
When I met him at an event in London when he was appearing on theatre here he was an absolute darling. He doesn't deserve the raw deal he got from Paramount or the fans.^ Supposedly, IRL Bakula is one of the nicest guys ever

I have to suspend a lot of disbelief to accept the canon and not crack up with laughter. Primitive humans just struggling after WW3 outwits advanced Vulcans, Andorians and the whole Alpha quadrant to start an empire! Talk about Terran privilege syndrome. They're supposed to have stolen all that technology first from the Vulcans and then from all the others.
From what I've heard from many actors, many love the chance to play the villain. Typically nice guys usually have the best time of it!^ Supposedly, IRL Bakula is one of the nicest guys ever - his costars (like Gary Graham and Dean Stockwell) all rave about how nice he is. Plus if Mirror humans are worse versions of our present day humans, the Mirror Vulcans should be real nasty, violent scary peice of work, meddling peoples' brains out. Instead we find much stronger, smarter Mirror Vulcans are wimps, willing servants of the humans. Except Mirror Spock he still had it!study and understand that technology would have take years, and to recreate it further years. Design a ship and build and test it? years again. Build a fleet of them?even more years. There is no way for Earth to be threat for vulcan in just a century

But still enjoy watching the Mirror TOS and ENT shows.
Well we already believe/accept that in the 23rd century female explorers/soldiers will find mini skirts sensible office wear. Easier for kickboxing the KlingonsIt doesn't make sense to me either. I was just stating what we're supposed to believe.

That cos she lives in the 24th centuryI don't know Kira is not wearing a mini Skirt when she beats the crap out of Damar.
I think he's more crazed than actually evil. You could argue that a decent yet inflexible guy like Archer would be driven crazy by the Terran Empire's operating principles.Am I the only one who thought Scott struggled a bit with Archer's being a nasty Man, in "A Mirror Darkly"? In the MU, only the humans are really different, and other species react to that.Plus if Mirror humans are worse versions of our present day humans, the Mirror Vulcans should be real nasty, violent scary peice of work, meddling peoples' brains out. Bakula was definitely trying for goofy, over the top, scenery chewing evil over serious evil. I'm not a fan of "In a Mirror, Darkly" because there's no-one to root for. But if everyone played it as a realstic grimdark psychopath it'd probably be unwatchable.
Or the greatest thing ever, in the hands of an amazing director.
But probably unwatchable.
Not the Vulcans?I'm not a fan of "In a Mirror, Darkly" because there's no-one to root for.
The mark of a passionate woman!Yeah, it's rather goofy to make someone your consort after she tried to put a knife in your back.

Maybe Mirror Universe Daniels gave the Terrans an upper handstudy and understand that technology would have take years, and to recreate it further years.
