The Internet Movie Database, pretty much the go-to source for information on casting of movies, tv and such has had the same, basic, layout with some minor changes since its inception. Recently they completely redesigned their layout and, well, it sucks.

Probably the biggest and most annoying change is large profile pictures and "known for" pictures in an actor's probfile before you get to their filmography which has been spread out a bit.

So what do you think?

I haven't noticed that the profile pages changed. Look the same as always to me.

I think I'm a little sick of people getting pissy and saying something sucks just because it's new. Oh no, how dare they update their 8-year-old layout?!

The new look is cleaner and easier to navigate, as far as I'm concerned. I just don't get people getting pissed when something changes. It's like the people who still bitch about the Ribbon interface in Microsoft Office--it's been how many years now? Get over it! It's better and even more customizable than the original.

Sorry, I still hate the ribbon. If it's customizable, I haven't figured out how yet.

I don't see the big change on IMDB, though.

Change like this often take a bit of getting used to.. Ask any facebook user.. However, after the initial chagrin, it will pass.. I don't even remember what the old facebook was like and I've been on there for 2 1/2 years.

But.. speaking as a hypocrite, I STILL use the "classic" version of Yahoo Mail.. I found their new format unweildy (sp?) and refused to change over. :)

The last time I got upset with a website changing their layout was when first IMDB moved the search box from the left side to the top, but I got used to it.

But then Wikipedia went and did a similar thing, only put it on the far top right and I still hate it.

As someone who only visits the site every so often to look up who was in a specific movie or TV show, I don't notice any change.

The only website changes that actually prompted me to never use the site again was a few years ago when Hotmail made some major layout changes. It made the site load more slowly and the font was so itty bitty I couldn't read it, yet there seemed to be no option to change it. It was all just such an unnecessary irritation, so I moved over to Gmail.

Sorry, Trekker, I quite like the changes they've made. Right off the bat you get the poster, the rating and the synopsis all in one easy to read box. Then, it gets to the cast, which is now getting reasonably sized profile images right underneath, then videos/trailers, then other photos, then it goes on to get all the pertinent information out of the way first, then the more extraneous details, then the reviews by users, and then the message board at the bottom. It works out fine, really. All they've done is change up the more visual aspects, which is what most people look for anyway.

The only time IMDb made a change that actually bothered me was when they moved the names of the writers down into some extremely hidden section rather than below the director's name. Fortunately they changed it back rather quickly but I was really sort of offended that they thought so little of the people that actually create the movies.

Odd that so many are saying they don't see much of a change. Last night I was looking up something (as I do almost every day), and I kept thinking that I was either getting directed to the wrong page, or something was wrong with my computer. To me it appears drastically different.

There are a bunch of photos at the top of the page now. I have dial-up, so perhaps I would notice that more than most, but it takes me much longer to load a page.

I much prefer how it was before, and I don't see anything wrong with disliking change. If you love change, then good for you. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but right now I'm thinking the old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Maybe we're looking at different types of entries. I almost always use IMDB to look up a person. This is what I'm seeing:

And I really don't see any significant changes.

There's obviously some... "issues" on your end, then. That or you're posting from the past.

I noticed that you're logged in and she's not. There may be a difference there.
When I'm logged in, I see what you see.
