IMDB "Trek Remastered" page is wrong...how to correct?

When touching on the current REMASTERED version, it said this

"The 2006 'enhanced' version of the series, aside from replacing original footage with newly made graphics, also standardized the opening credits of all episodes. A new version of the original theme music was recorded and replaced the original recordings. As a result, the 'opera singer', who previously was only heard in the opening credits of seasons 2 and 3 is now heard on season 1 episodes as well. Like most other aspects of the 'enhanced' Star Trek, this change has been controversial with some fans."


I know we've seen Remastered episodes that didn't have the "opera singer", so the thing is wrong to say that ALL the episodes have her.

I just don't know if something changed at some point and they started adding attaching the "singing" version of the opening to the wrong episodes.

If you were going to correct the above paragraph, what would you say?

In the meantime, could someone please tell ME if the opera singer has been heard on the wrong episodes? I lose track of which should have that version and which shouldn't.

As far as I know, the credits have been correctly redone for every episode, except for "Where No Man Has Gone Before."

WNMHGB- Uses standard season 1 credits (excepting that the pilot version of the ship appears in place of the series version), while the original was missing Kirk's narration.

Season 1- Yellow type, no opera singer
Season 2- Yellow type, opera singer
Season 3- Blue type, opera singer

an opera singer to the instrumental theme, a new vocal track was also recorded
- this vocal, however, was not added to the first-season credits, maintaining
the difference in style that was present in the originals. As with the originals,
the credits also changed color in the third season, from the yellow of the first
two seasons to blue in the third season. The new credits also maintain the absence
of a credit for DeForrest Kelley, who played "Dr. McCoy" and was not added to the
opening credits until the second season. Many fans were very happy that CBS remained
faithful to the changes that occurred during the run of the series, rather than
standardizing it for the modern audiences for whom the updated effects were created.

As far as I know, this is accurate.

BTW, this has been bugging me: in the original, did the "e's" in DeForrest Kelley's name have square corners, where those in Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner's names used the rounded corners? I've noticed this in the new credits and wondered if this was accurate or a mistake. (and now I see I made a mistake and put 2 "r's" in his name! Damn! )

The changes you put in are what I was hoping for...except for the wrong spelling of Dee's name. *grin*

As for the style of the Es, I raised this question several months ago, and got yelled at as a complainer.

Someone kindly stepped in and answered my simple question...

Apparently the original credits mixed the Es!!!

This means that the guys working on the remastered version even copied a 40 year old error, which I think is great! They didn't change that either!

Why would anyone be happy that De Kelley's name was left out of the credits? Mistakes can, and must, be corrected.

He wasn't being paid as a before-the-title performer in Season One. The credit in Seasons Two and Three reflected the actor's changed status (and pay rise).

I could have sworn that in the Solow/Justman book there was lamentation of the budget decision to cut the singer. If the singer was there in seasons 2 and 3, this must have referred to syndication. So, was the opening sequence changed for syndication? Was it restored for the video or DVD releases?

You didn't read what you were replying to.

Nobody said anything about Dee's name being left out of the credits.

Ptrope said HE had misspelled Dee's name, and that needed to be fixed.

It was also mentioned that in the credits where Dee's name DOES appear (years two and three?), there are actually two different versions of the capital "E" (in the "Star Trek" font) used- One has a curve at the top left corner, the other has a sharp corner.

Nothing was said at any point about anyone's name being left out.

I'm currently transferring to DVD my tapes of the third season's episodes from the SciFi Channel's "Special Edition" of TOS.

I'm fairly sure they used the original openings, as they'd appeared on NBC.

Right now I'm running "Spectre of the Gun".

The "opera singer" is heard, with the blue colored lettering on screen.

Sadly, two weeks on, the incorrect entry still stands on Yahoo. Who posts these things, anyway? I've posted updates three times over the years, to various entries, and never once has one shown up, the incorrect entries still standing long past their expiration dates. Clearly, the folks at Yahoo don't care about the accuracy of their entries, even to the point of failing to review updates to see if maybe they are spreading misinformation on their site.

Although accurate it seems a little wordy, this is how I think it should read

In 2006 CBS began a project to remaster the entire series in HD. These "Remastered" episodes began airing in SD in the USA on syndicated TV and the first season will be released on HD-DVD/DVD Combo disk in late 2007. In addition to a new HD transfer each episode includes new digital effects replacing all space shots and matte paintings. In some episodes there are new digital effects mixed in with the live action as well. CBS also created three new digital versions of the opening titles - each made to perfectly match each season. CBS also recorded three digital stereo versions of the opening theme to again match each of the original three opening title sequences. The project will be completed (with all episodes aired and released on HD-DVD) by late 2008. These "Remastered" episodes are also being made available on Apple iTunes (in SD) and Microsoft X-Box Live (in HD).
