IMDB cast list

Geez, that sure is one hell of a big cast list! And I see that we STILL have no idea who Paul McGillion is playing, or what his character might be. It seems to be a very well-kept secret.

Gary Mitchell...

...or Kevin Riley (I hope).

I always liked Lt. Riley for some reason. Maybe it's because he seemed like an 'Everyman' -- someone who I think I would be like if I was in his position, i.e. someone to whom I can relate, which is a lot like McGillion's character on Stargate Atlantis.

Actually, I was hoping that he could've been cast as Captain Robert April, if only for a small scene to establish the launch of the Enterprise in 2245 (and to make April a part of canon).

Won't happen I know, but still...

^^It could happen. However, if they decide to canonize Robert April, I have a feeling it will be in a line of dialogue rather than a scene featuring the character.

Yeah, I think you're probably right. Which still leads me to wonder what role McGillion has snagged.

I still think he would have been an awesome Scotty. I'm very curious to see how Pegg does.

Same here. I really don't know much about Pegg, vaguely remember that he was in MI3. I guess we'll just have to trust J.J. judgment on this.

^^If you want, you can go see him in his new film How to Lose Friends & Alienate People, which is opening tomorrow (Oct. 3rd) here in the U.S.

Or -- if you don't want to spend the time and the $8.50 -- go to YouTube and look for clips from his very popular and critically-accaimed British TV show Spaced.

Spaced was a mostly a comedy, but Pegg's role was usually played in a serious manner (albeit sometimes in non-serious circumstances).

Here's the first episode:
