*grumbles* It's too damn hot outside! It's 34C here in Ottawa, and the humidex makes it feel like 42. That's in the low-90s and around 108 for those of you that use fake degrees, by the way.

I know it's not as hot as it gets in many places in the world, but there's a reason I don't live in there. I can't stand the heat; its everywhere, its oppressive, and I can never stop sweating. I also can't sleep—even with a fan blowing right over me last night, it took me ages to fall asleep.

Overall, I'd much rather have winter... at least with the cold, I can bundle up, or get cozy in my apartment. Right now, my apartment is a sauna.

So anyone else in Central Canada and New England "enjoying" this heat wave? And how do you deal with the high temperatures?

Yeah, it has been shockingly hot the last few days (especially since it was below freezing at one point last week). My house stays surprisingly cool, but the A/C at work is broken, so I'm all sweaty and gross right now.

It's very surprising weather for how early in the year it is. I don't even think it got this hot once last summer.

I deal with warm weather by complaining a lot, and wearing dresses. They finally turned the A/C on in our building, at least.

I got so used to living with air conditioning that I didn't even think to ask if this place had it. It does not. I will probably have to invest in a window unit.

God, I just want to own a house so I don't have to deal with this crap.

Yeah, my building is pretty old (~1890 or so) so it's not exactly built for A\C. I've got a fan on full, but it's still pretty sweltering.

Neither my apartment nor my office are air-conditioned.

I can't wait for winter.

I make do with fans. And I sweat and curse a lot.

I'm in the East of Toronto area, and finally my school turned the A/C on today! I went out after school to supervise busses, and nearly passed out-even the breeze was hot!

No air at home, but celing fans, and floor fans.

I love the heat! I wish it was like this all year round. Went to a club on the weekend my friends got a booth on the patio. Nothing beats drinking and smoking on a patio. Plus, unlike winter, you dont freeze your ass off while lining up outside the club.

Another one of my friends did a bbq, so more drinking and smoking outside, plus FOOD.

And I love driving on hot sunny days. Windows down, sunroof open, bass pumping. And everybody brings their sports cars and motorcycles out of storage. Or maybe converts their regular car to back to "summer mode" (like summer rims and tires). And of course the ladies bring out the short skirts and tank tops. The hotter it is, the more revealing their clothes

I fucking hate winter. I think each year we are forced to wait and suffer through the stupid ass cold and snow that we EARNED the right to a HOT HOT summer.

I would much prefer eleven days of -41 C or lower.

I agree - much rather be really cold than really hot!

Luckily we haven't got above 29 here on the prairies yet, but it'll come soon. We do have air-con, thank god! I'm British, to me 25 is a sweltering hot day.

Ha...that happened once when I lived in Arkansas. No longer live there, but that was easily the hottest weather I ever experienced, for the most prolonged stretch. Even living further south I have never felt anything like it. And in Arkansas it's not like Phoenix, either. One word: HUMIDITY.

(Granted, not New Orleans humid. But still.)

I would gladly take a run of that kind of weather, though, than a stretch of that many days below freezing. I am a little "Cardassian." (And the heat tolerance poll from a year or two ago proves it. ) I do NOT do well with cold. At. ALL.

Best weather I ever experienced was in San Antonio. No freezing temps. 70 F on Christmas Day. Rain was rare. Just bright, warm, sunshine-y days.

I'm in Mass., it's been 90 here the past couple days. It sucks bad. My office building is all glass on a couple sides, including the one that faces east. Despite the AC, it's sweltering by 10 AM.

My solution: Run 3 big AC window units 24/7. I can hear my meter ringing up kWh's by the thousands.
