True, but as you say Spock was basically the sole representative of Vulcans, and other Vulcans (whenever they appeared) for the most part simply followed the same stoic blueprint. I think ENT did a good job of giving us a lot more about Vulcans and breaking away from the Spock mold.

Granted, but they'd also had a fairly long break from doing anything heavily Vulcan by then. DS9 didn't cover Vulcans much either, & only very little on Voyager with Tuvok, though I'm no expert on that series

Tuvok was basically Spock v2. I think I read somewhere that Tim Russ said he studied Nimoy's performances.

One of the interesting things with Worf that's much different than Spock is that his stories were (among other things) about trying to re-connect with his heritage. His behavior contrasted with the "real" Klingons quite a bit. Worf was a little different from the humans but really, he interacted with the crew pretty easily. Spock on the other hand was a model Vulcan and really contrasted with the other crew members.

Well, I've seen TNG all the way through before, but that was about 8-10 years ago, and I feel like I'm discovering cool stuff in this phase.

I saw pretty much all of TNG growing up. A few years back, I re-watched all of it after not seeing it in nearly a decade. It was so much fun.

Sins of the Father, Reunion, Redemption I and Redemption II work together as a delightful arc in the series. The other Klingon episodes are fine of course, but these four in particular work especially well together.

I would include The Minds Eye in that list. That kinda sets up the whole Romulan plot for Redemption, even moreso than just seeing the silhouette of Sela for the first time.

When it comes to TNG Klingon episodes, I like

"The Emissary"
"Sins of the Father"
"Reunion"
"Redemption" (part 1)

For two bonus episodes, throw in DS9's "Once More Unto the Breach" and also "Trials and Tribble-ations". The rest of the post-TMP Klingon-centered episodes are various kinds of lesser, AFAIC.

Yeah, I agree. Worf probably learned a lot about his traditional culture from book learning or something like that. He didn't actually grow up in the culture, so on some level he's more human than Klingon, and on another level he's more Klingon than other Klingons (because he holds himself up to a higher standard based on what he believes Klingon culture aspires to).

Spock's character arc is similar, but also different, he is essentially of Vulcan upbringing: even though he is half-human he understands Vulcan culture because he was born to Vulcan culture and grew up in that enviroment. Worf didn't have that luxury (even though he probably did visit the homeworld and any survivng family from time to time, it wasn't really his life -- he grew up with humans and feels more comfortable among them).

I'm curious: Did they ever really explore Romulans in the franchise?

Unification gave a glimpse of Romulan culture, about all I can think of.

I'd add "The Defector" and "Face Of The Enemy" from TNG alone. As you mentioned 'the franchise', you should also include - whether you like it or not! - the film "Nemesis" as this obviously gave us some background to the Senate, and the Remans.
