Very nice! I used miles to upgrade to a business class set a few years ago on a trans-Atlantic flight, and it was very comfy even if I couldn't sleep. On the return flight, there was a glitch and my upgrade never went through! I had to take coach on the way back and it was absolutely miserable.
Flying First Class has often been a wish of mine..first on..first off the plane..sleeping in comfortable chairs.. I've only flown cattle class except 1 time..(was military standby on a fully booked flight..I got upgraded to business class so I could make my PCS.. very nice)
During my trip to and from Brazil, the dear wife got lucky and she could stretch out to sleep (over me ) as we had an empty seat next to us on each international leg..the seats on international flights...even in coach were better than the seats on any of my domestic travels...

International first class is definitely it's own beast. In fact, I was so spoiled by the time I'd flown two international first class flights (Mumbai-Amsterdam and Amsterdam-Minneapolis), that I scoffed at the first class domestic flight to Seattle!
For us it was a necessity, though. My mother essentially had three major abdominal surgeries and she never would have made the flight coach -- it would have been so painful. I offered to ride coach, but she also has such severe anxiety that she can't bear to be apart from me in unfamiliar situations, so I just had to go first class!

So she's home and settled in now? That's nice. I'm glad everything went well and you had some fun in the process.

I'm staying with her for the rest of the summer to help take care of her during her recovery. She was well enough to visit her grandson yesterday, which really boosted her spirits!
