I'm in awe (no spoilers)

Flying Spaghetti Monster

my ex just told me that her and her new boyfriend are going to see the new Trek film. Yes they are.

She's NEVER been a fan but she is looking forward to it!

Hopefully there are more people like your ex that never gave trek a second glance, may just want to see this movie!

Something like 80% of the user ratings for the film on IMDB are from males. It'd be nice if it could attract a wider demographic once it has a full release.

I managed to persuade 3 ppl, who would normally never go to see the movie to come and see it, and I know they are coming as they paid me to book their tickets, I had to book the tickets to ensure we all seat in same area and have best seats possible... :techman:

My college age daughter, who is not a Star trek fan, is going to see this movie. My wife really isn't a fan but she has liked watching the episodes with me is also looking forward to this movie.

GOOD SIGNS!:techman:

My girlfriend isn't a Trek fan at all (yet) but she's excited to see it and is going with me on the May 7th to the early showing. My mom, who has never been a fan either and has maybe gone out to a maybe 5-6 movies in the theater since...well, since I've been alive...is going with myself and the rest of my family to see it on the 8th. If it can get my 51 year old non-Trek-fan mom to go out to a theater, the marketing must be doing a pretty good job.

My fiancee, on the other hand, who doesn't even know the things you'd expect the average person to know about Star Trek, had been talking about seeing it with me.

Then she saw an ad on TV and said, "What? That doesn't look like Star Trek.... Maybe you should just go on her own."

That's the exact opposite reaction most people seem to be having. I guess the super-over-the-top-action "Forget everything you know" ad with all the shouting, shooting, and 0.5 seconds of an Orion in bed weren't for her.
