I'm getting brain damage.

I'm sitting here watching my niece -she's sick-, she's watching The Disney Channel.

The Suite Life of Zack and Cody is on.

I think my brain is melting.

Please tell me this canned laughter and not a live audience actualy entertained by this. And do these boys ever age? I think they've always looked like this, I'm starting to believe that Onion article that suggested Disney kids are made in a lab. Oh, and this episode has an offensive racial/national stereotype in it in the form of some Arabic Bellboy -who's either a girl or a -fairly convincing- crossdresser in the alternate reality this episode is set in.

And do all of these people, like, live in this hotel?

God, I want to die.

This show is so terrible.

The mom is kind-of comely, though, but I liked her better with longer drak hair. Short spikey blonde hair doesn't suit her.

"Getting"? :rommie:

Here's a thought. If hitting yourself on the head with a mallet a la Looney Tunes gives you a headache - stop!

:guffaw:

This give me a long chuckle after you posted the thread! That's Disney for you, mate! (Shake head and laughing) Why did you ever watch that show where it has melting your brain?!

I feel your pain. I've had to watch that garbage when I've been visiting my brother and his family. My nieces eat that shit up. I swear that I can honestly feel myself getting dumber as I sit there and watch it. Invariably I end up leaving the room.

In helping my wife babysit for friends, I've occasionally been subjected to Zack & Cody, Hanna Montana, and similar Disney sitcoms. Yes, they are hideous, but I have a sneaking fear that if I rewatched some of the shows I loved as a kid, such as Diff'rent Strokes and Silver Spoons, I would discover they really were just as bad.

^ I'm with Temis. I think the brain damage boat has already sailed.

I pity you..I have to watch that Disney line-up EVERY night...my daughter watches ALL of them..thankfully my son likes Flapjack and Spongebob and Phenius and Pherb..they are half-way entertaining...

Rob

No. Phineas and Ferb rule in a dimension several worlds above any of the shows mentioned thus far.

"Now, Perry The Platyupus--as the first stage of my plan I will launch a show about two twinner barely-controllable brats who live in a luxury hotel--whaaat? It could work! It could connect with the young people. I'm with the young people. I AM!! Don't roll your eyes at me!"

They are.

I mean for god's sake, Saved By the Bell, anyone?

Saved by the Bell actually had deeper plots compared to some of the Disney shows. I think they actually recycle plots amongst the different shows.

From time to time my brother will ask if I can come over and watch my niece so him and his wife can go out. I don't really mind too much since she has always been surprisingly well behaved... Must get it from his wife because him and me when we were kids were just flat out destruction. lol

Anyway she likes to watch the shows on the Disney Channel and then some on Nick. I think the ones on Nick are actually a bit more watchable, iCarly isn't bad and I think the writers on it actually tend to put in jokes that the parents get, but the kids watching it wouldn't.

But the whole Disney channel thing. It's just a factory that churns out these quasi singer/actress types. Demi Lovato has a show on there, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez is trying to be a singer now and has a show on Disney.

I sometimes wonder what kind of contracts they get into with the parents, do the parents sell their kid into Disney slavery at like age 10?

I hear you, Trekker, I hear you. I spent Thanksgiving at my aunt and uncle's house, and my female cousins had the TV set to the Family channel; I was then subjected to the Jonas Brothers show and something else (I think it was the one with that Demi Lovato girl). Dear god, they were atrocious... terrible acting, poorly scripted, unfunny attempts at humour -- just painful.

Possibly the worst part of it is that my cousins are teenagers! You'd think they would have outgrown this sort of stuff by now... at least the one that's 18 and attending university. Ugh... I just don't get it -- but I suppose some of my family members have said the same thing about my love for Star Trek. ;)

Guys, guys, guys...

They aren't aimed at our age group. So not aimed at our demographic. Accept that and move on. Kids have watched worse and wil watch worse, and they'll still turn out okay. Usually. :)

You know what I watched when I was their age? Star Trek! And I liked it that way!

You're right. But back when I was growing up there weren't many programs aimed at kids at all. It was basically cartoons, sesame street and Mr. Rogers. I grew up watching shows mostly meant for adults. I think that was probably for the best since a lot of the shows weren't as stone dumb as the crap on Disney.
