I'm considering crossing over...

Honda's a good brand. I used to drive an Accord myself before the financing got too expensive for me to handle. Now I drive a VW Passat.

You seem like a smart guy, I can't believe it took you so long to figure this out.

I have never owned an American car, and I doubt I ever will.

I own the 2cnd FORD in my life.:brickwall: My next car will be a riceburner.
My condolences. A Focus? I hate those with a passion. Only Ford I might consider is the Mustang GT, and they made that all ugly these days.

Hello, apparantly I'm mister stupid. Thank you for showing me that.

Yeah, that was a pretty dick thing to say. I've driven American cars my whole life, and my entire immediate famil drives Chevys.

I'm not even saying that I see anything wrong with American cars. I simply can't find an American car that fits my needs and preferences. If I could afford a Camaro I'd be all over it.

So I guess I'm still stupid.

Well, I did it! I just picked up the car today! I couldn't afford the lop of the line model with the V6, so I went with the mid range model with the inline-4. That turned out to be a good choice because the 4-cyl gets TWICE the miles per gallon that my truck did, and about 5 more than the V6.

I was, however, able to get that amazing blue color. They had trouble finding it in inventory, and had they not been able to find it, it would have been a deal breaker. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...the color is just breathtaking.

The thing I love most other than the color, is the interior. By far the nicest car I've ever driven. Even though its a mid-range model with cloth seats, I still feel like I'm in a much higher class car inside. The door panels and center console have padded sections right where your arms end up and none of the plastic looks too hard or rough. Every surface has a soft touch to it. It also drives great, incredibly quiet and the engine is silky and smooth. I also have plenty of room for my 6'3" self and with the tilt and telescoping wheel I was able to find the perfect setup. After driving a pickup, I get a very "jet plane cockpit" feel to it, with it's higher waistline and deeper bolstered seats. Being so much lower to the ground will take some getting used to, as will not instinctively reaching for the invisible column shifter. :)

Yes sir. I was sad to see it go, but once I started taking some tight turns with this baby and seeing how well it responds and handles...while the truck handled more like the Queen Mary...I stopped missing it about 50 miles ago. :)

Sweet! I'm glad you're happy. When i got my Nissan, i loved it. Being able to make tight turns, and accelerate much quicker than my 1990 Chrysler, it was great. Yeah the car i learned how to drive in, a 1977 Chevy Caprice Classic, handled like an aircraft carrier. My Sentra is also an I-4 but she can cook when she needs to.

Coolness! Don't be sad about not being able to get a 6, a 4 works very well for a car of this size. I have a turbo 4 on my Saab that's a bit bigger and a sedan and that thing can haul ass. I have...opinions about you going automatic though, but each on to his own.

Glad you like the car! :techman:

Trust me, you wouldn't want to sit in Highway 4, San Francisco or Bay Bridge traffic with a stick shift. That would just *suck*.

Well I can see your reasoning there. Was in my first traffic jam for a long while yesterday when I wne trough Stockholm and that would have sucked even more royally if I wasn't driving my dads Prius. No not because of the fuel, because of the automatic gearbox.
If it ain't a stick shift, it ain't driving.
I wouldn't quuiiiite stretch that far, even though I far prefer stick. I'd say it differs from car to car. My uncles early 90s Jeep Cherokee with a I-6 and automatic transmission is a blast to drive when you put it into RWD.

Perhaps it's a cultural thing, but people who drive automatics are mocked and derided here. I don't know anybody who would even consider it. They are considered wussie cars :p

In fact if you learned to drive in an automatic, they won't even let you drive a stick, you'd have to take your test again.

Still, it is a very nice car apart from that.

^Well we don't quite have the mocked and deride part here, but it's the same with automatic only license. I'm so glad I didn't take that, I was considering it for a while. Rowing trough gears is too much fun. Then again auto isn't an option for me since I live in apretty small city out on the coast and there's not loads of traffic around so I don't often need to concern myself with traffic jams.

That car looks slick, Flux! Right now I'm still in love with my 1999 Monte Carlo LS, as it easily gets 28+ miles to the gallon and still looks good, but when it finally does give out, I am considering a Honda Civic. I've heard nothing but great things about them, and the price isn't ridiculously high. Of course, my car won't be new, it would be a few years old, but still, I'm heading in that direction, too, so I understand where you're coming from.

J.
