I'm Appreciating the Third Season More!

Really? I don't fool myself, I know I'm in the minority, but I love the music of this episode. They are some quite interesting tunes. And while I know this is hardly outstanding storytelling I can enjoy the humor of it (if intentional or not).

Oh, I totally enjoy the music, but only for its unintentional comedy.

Oh alright, everybody SING! ...

Heading out to eden,
Yeah brother.
Heading out to eden,
Yeah brother.
No more trouble
In my body or my mind.
Goin' to live like a king
On whatever I find.
Eat all the fruit
And throw away the rind.
Yeah brother, yeah.

Steppin' out to eden,
Yeah brother.
Steppin' out to eden,
Yeah brother.
No more trouble
In my body or my mind.
Goin' to live like a king
On whatever I find.
Eat all the fruit
And throw away the rind.
Yeah brother.

C'mon, EVERYONE join in!...

I'm talkin' 'bout you,
I'm talkin' 'bout me.
Long time back when the galaxy was new.
Man found out what he had to do.
Found he had to eat and he found he had to drink,
And a long time later he found he had to think.
Yes, think.

[I'm standing here wondering -- What?]

If a man tells another man,
How to mow hay.
He piles up trouble for himself all day.
But all kinds of trouble will come to an end.
When a man tells another man,
Be my friend.
My friend.

[Well what's it going to be?]

There's a mile wide emptiness,
Between you and me.
Let's reach across it,
*On an even sea.*
Someone ought'a take a step,
One way or other.
Let's say goodbye,
Or let's say brother.

Brother!
Brother!
Hey out there...
Hey out there.
Hey out there...
Hey out there.
I see you...
I see you.
I see you...
I see you.

Let's get together and have some fun.

[I don't know how to do it,
But it's gotta be done.]

Well if we're going to go that far then this has to be posted:

There certainly is a lot of . . . junk . . . in the third season.

But just as in TFF, so much work had gone into the characterizations and backstory that we often have the finest, rarefied, condensed "Star Trek." In particular, we get the trio at its finest.

For me, in the third season I don't realy care so much about plot. I just want to see how the characters all relate.

Eh, the third season had some gems, but I still think it was over all a poor showing compared to what we got in the 1st and 2nd season. The earlier two seasons had their clunkers, but the 3rd season by far as the most cringe worthy episodes. I have gotten so much more use out of my season 1 and 2 DVDs than the 3rd one.

There are some real peices of crap in the 3rd season. I mean terrible episodes that I can't really sit through. Spock's Brain, And the Children Shall Lead, Spectre of a Gun, Elaan of Troyius, and Cloud Minders are just about unwatchable to me.

However there are some good episodes that I don't even see listed on this thread.

Paradise Syndrome is a very solid story and well executed. It's similar to Tholeon Web in that Kirk gets seperated from the ship but we get to see him basically become a Godlike figure then we see those same people panick and try to kill him and his wife later on. But you also see some insight on the Spock/Bones relationship which is really in depth for Tholeon Web.

Wink of an Eye is another solid episode although there's a few things that really don't make sense. Such as how fast they were going. But I can overlook that because this is a great episode anyway.

Let That Be Your Last Battlefield is a great episode about racism really. It had some very tense moments but some of the visuals were strange. But that happens a lot in the 3rd season.

Lights of Zetar gives you another side of Scotty you don't see much and it's a good episode also.

All Our Yesterdays is a really good episode and gives insight not only to Spock but the Vulcans of the past. It's basically another Bones Spock episode which was a theme in the 3rd season.
